Hi I'm Jacob

I love the out doors, swimming, hiking, history, art, Star Wars, I am a Jedi knight, I am a nerd, and most important I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 21 years old, I am from West Haven Utah, although I spend most of my life in Marysville Washington. I am the oldest of five boys. I am currently on my mission in the Georgia, Atlanta North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints. I attended a semester at Snow College, down in Ephraim Utah. I really like art, I love to draw things like dragons, and warriors and all that jaz. I love all things starwars and if i could choose to be anything at all I would totally be a Jedi. I love history especially ancient and medieval especially the warfare, and I am most definitely a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in an LDS home, my parents are members, and I have family that goes back to the pioneer days and the early church with Joseph Smith and all that. I have been brought up with the standards of the church and the expectation that I would serve a mission. I have a sincere testimony of the gospel, I know that my heavenly father knows me and loves me, and I want to share that.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith? well a HUGE part of the way I live my faith is my mission. It is a huge sacrifice to go out for two years and serve the church, but I have a testimony and other people deserve to get to here it. Like I have said I have a testimony of this church, of this gospel, and that we have a loving heavenly father and our savior loves us and is there for us no matter what. I have always kind of known that the gospel was true and have tried to live up to that, but being out on my mission has increased my testimony tenfold if not more!

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Jacob
For me, I only have to look around at nature, and see that everything works together with way more harmony than pure coincidence could ever create. Everything has a purpose, even though our minds can only see very finite components to the big picture, the very fact that the Universe hasn't disintegrated is evidence that there is a god. If you look at the placement of our planet, I do not believe that our existence on this planet is coincidence. One thing about this is that had everything go just right for it, not to far from the sun, not to close, This is evidence that our heavenly father specifically designed it to work like that. If you look at some of the crazy stuff that happens in other parts of even our galaxy it is pretty spectacular that life has survived this far, this can only be explained as a pre-planned and pre-meditated universe. That we are the end result of some cosmic coincidence is false, if that were true we probably would look way different, if you look at all of the other crazy adaptations out there. I know that god created this universe, he prepared this planet for us, and there is a plan for us, read Alma 30:44. Show more Show less

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Jacob
The Book of Mormon, as is stated on the cover of the book, is another testament of Jesus Christ. It contains the dealings of God with his children in America, it contains the fullness of Christ's gospel, it neither adds to or takes away from the Bible but acts as a companion, things that were not so clear in the Bible are more fully explained in the Book of Mormon. And as I have already said it is a second witness which allows us to draw a distinct line to Christ's full gospel. If you put the Bible down as a point you can draw an infinite amount of lines through it, like the interpretations that we see today, the Book of Mormon provides a second point through which you can draw a line straight to Jesus Christ and his gospel. A brief answer to the question of where it comes from, is that the Gold plates (basically a stack of golden plates on which had engravings in reformed Egyptian) which he received in September 1827, was translated by Joseph smith through the power of god into English. He was informed of these plates by the angel Moroni who was the last of the prophets of the record in 1823. The book was published in 1830. I have a personal testimony of the Book of Mormon, I know it to be a true book and that it does in fact contain the fullness of the gospel, and that Joseph Smith did in fact translate it by the power of God. And when one gets a testimony of this book they will know that this is Christs church, restored again to the earth. Show more Show less
