Hi I'm Daniel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to keep fit and train hard. I am so grateful for the physical body that I have, all the abilities that I possess and all that I can do. I am soon to be a Dad for the first time and am currently studying to become a Primary School teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

In July 2008 my life was going nowhere, fast. I felt trapped in the environment that I was living. I worked in a Brick factory and had done for the past 10 years. Although I was always grateful that I had a job and was self sufficient, the loud, dusty factory and mundane work failed to challenge or inspire me. However I had a mortgage and was happy to plod along, I had tried to sell my house to fund a new career but that was not meant to be. I had been single for all of my 34 years and had accepted that this was to be my fate. I had plenty of 'girlfriends' however that was what they were, friends. I had drank, smoked cannabis and partied for the first 30 years of my life, although most of these I have no recollection of due to the effects of my choices. On Christmas Eve 2003 I got drunk as was the custom, however that evening I was sick throughout the night, I then decided (as I had done before) that I was not going to drink for a while, a week turned into a month, then 2 and so on and then I decided that I was not going tom drink again. Smoking was a little more difficult, I tried on many occasions but to no avail, then around 2004 I succeded in stopping smoking cigarretes, however i continued to smoke cannabis for a few more years.i am not sure exactly when I stopped this, somewhere around 2006 I think. I had been looking for something in my life to fill the void, i was going to go to the Catholic church with my Aunty to see what that was about, in the meantime the missionaries knocked on my door. I was impressed with their countenance and they invited me to Church(3 hours) I said you would be lucky to get me there for 10 minutes! I did agree to meet with them for a 'lesson' though. After they left I decided that maybe this is what I had been looking for so I decided to attend Church on the Sunday, I did not have a suit, so I bought one (£15), I enjoyed it straight away, I noticed that there was a sense of humour among the people too which was important to me

How I live my faith

During my time in the Church I have had many opportunities to serve and learn, opportunities that have helped me in my life outside the Church too. I have taken part in and helped to write and produce an amateur play production. I have delivered talks to the congregation and have been part of activities such as 'The Family Fun Day' to which we had over 300 hundred visitors, some members, many not.
