Hi I'm Matthew Harries

I'm a student. I'm an athlete. I'm a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life. I am a son of two wonderful parents who love me and help me grow in life. I have three siblings, two of whom have served missions for the Church. I love to play sports, especially basketball and football. I just recently graduated high school, and I am currently preparing to serve a two-year mission in Santiago, Chile. I love learning and I am constantly striving to become the best I can be in all areas of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents were raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was baptized when I was eight years old, but this is not the main reason I am a Mormon. The doctrine of Jesus Christ taught in this Church brings clarity and joy into every part of my life. I know that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ, and that it was restored in fulness by Jesus Christ to the Prophet Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ, is true. It, along with the Bible, teach us the Christ's Gospel and the way back to Him. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, pains, and sorrows. His sacrifice was the ultimate sacrifice of love; because of Him we can become clean and free of guilt. Jesus Christ is the head of this Church. God answers prayers. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or a Mormon, has positively affected every aspect of my life.

How I live my faith

For the next two years, I will be a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago, Chile. I will spend every day of my mission preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and serving the Chilean people. I will love and come to know my Heavenly Father, even more deeply than I now do, as I serve His children. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, who prepared a way for us to all return to His presence.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Matthew Harries
We can come to know our Heavenly Father by first acting in faith and obeying His commandments. As we pray to Him and express our feelings, He will provide us with strength, wisdom, and added faith to overcome trials that we face. Our Heavenly Father wants us to know who He is. As we study the Scriptures and the words of modern Prophets and Apostles, we can come to know God as a loving, merciful, and caring Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
