Hi I'm Susie

Avid reader and wannabe runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a mother and all that entails. I love to read books; murder mysteries, action adventure stories and biographies are some of my favorite reads. I have just relearned out to snow ski this winter and I have had so much fun spending time on the slopes with my family. Healthy food and activities that promote healthy living are important to me. I have run many races and especially like to run 1/2 marathons. My husband and some of our children also enjoy running so it is something that we like to do as a family. Being together as a family and having fun together is what I like to do best.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the Church when I was born so when I was eight, I chose to be baptized. I was raised as a member and attended Sunday meetings and activities as a child and youth. When I was about 16 years old, my seminary teacher encouraged us to find out for ourselves if the church was true. I remember reading Moroni 10:4-5 and deciding the take the challenge to find out for myself if the Book of Mormon was true and if God really lives and if the Savior really did live and die for us. I prayed to God to know these things and through the power of the Holy Ghost I received a witness that it was all true. I felt peace and love. Since that time I have tried to live true to the witness I received. I'm not perfect and am terribly flawed, but that is why the Savior came and died for us. Only He is perfect and through Him we can be made perfect and forgiven. I find that when I am obedient to the commandments I am happy and feel the Savior's love. The Gospel of Christ helps me to teach my children how to live caring, loving, and fulfilling lives. The gospel helps me want to be my best self, to become the person that God wants me to become.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church each Sunday, even when we are out of town for vacations or to visit family. Actually, I love visiting other wards while on vacation. I always meet new people and it warms my heart to see the same Gospel taught wherever I go. I try to be sensitive to the Holy Ghost who guides me and helps me to love others and reach out to those who need a friend. I try to read in the scriptures and pray each day, and when I do this I feel my Saviors love. I try to attend the temple regularly and serve in my church.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Susie
My lifestyle isn't much different that many of my neighbors and friends of other faiths. I attend church meetings on Sundays, my teens attend youth groups on Wednesday nights and my 11 year old attends scouts during the week. My husband and I try to stay active and healthy by exercising and eating healthy food and encouraging our children to participate in sports and staying active. We love to take vacations as a family and spend time together. We especially love to snow ski, hike, and run races together. We try to stay close as a family by eating dinner together every evening. We pray with our children before they leave for school in the morning and again before we retire for bed. Praying together brings us closer together and helps us feel protected and loved. We read the scriptures together as a family every evening and try to learn how to be more like the Savior. We encourage our children to be involved in the many good things that our community offers and try to help those who are in need. My son just completed his Eagle Scout service project where he collected and distributed jeans and socks for the homeless in our community. We try to help our elderly neighbors by shoveling their walks and driveways when it snows. We want to be an influence for good in our neighborhood and community. All of these things help our family feel happy and fulfilled. Show more Show less
