Hi I'm Joseph

I grew up in Western Washington on a small farm. I enjoy programming computers and spending time with others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student attending school in Utah. I strive for academic excellence while keeping other areas of my life in balance. This semester I graduate with a BS in Computer Engineering. My future career plans are to pursue a Master's degree, then work in the field of Bioengineering (preferably prosthetics). When I can, I love to be outdoors. I have been on two 50-mile hikes in back country Washington that I thoroughly enjoyed. I also went on a 50-mile kayaking trip in Puget Sound. Week-long ventures are an amazing chance to experience a change, adapt to new circumstances, and take a break from the stress of the outside world. Some of my best memories are of getting real sunburned and tired but choosing to go on in spite of those difficulties. I love to memorize things. I think that the more I memorize and keep my brain active, the longer my brain will stay healthy. Among several other things, I have memorized the Declaration of Independence. Memorization doesn't come easy for me, but I work hard, and that effort pays off. Over the past couple of years I have developed another interest - listening to others and sharing emotions. As I take the time to simply listen to my friends and loved ones, they feel my concern for them and our relationships become much sweeter. Not much in the world compares to how good it feels to have someone listen to you, without judging you, as you talk about your feelings and dreams and ideas.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the joy and happiness I feel as I live the principles taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As I help others, pray, and read God's word I feel that God is happy with me, and I feel Him blessing me. God helps and guides me. These rich blessings means everything to me in my life. Over the last few years I have seen the dedication of many good people of other faiths, and my admiration for them leads me to reflect on why I made the decision to stay a Mormon. I think the answer is simple. The more truth and knowledge we have in our lives about God and our duty to Him, the more happiness and joy we can experience from living according to correct principles. Truth is found everywhere, yet in being a Mormon I have felt a witness from God that this is where His complete truth is found. I invite you to come and see the truths we have in common, and we can benefit from each other's faith. How I live my faith

In addition to personal religious devotion, I live my faith by helping those around me. Two years ago I served a 2-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I spent this time teaching the Brazilian people about God and helping them physically and spiritually. I felt so much love for these people. Because of this and many other experiences in my life I know that God loves each of us perfectly. As our Father in Heaven, He is the best father we could ever have. As we reach out to Him in prayer we can feel His love and gain guidance and direction for our lives. I continue to help other people in my life by listening to others, noticing those who may feel left out and spending time with them, and treating others kindly. By knowing that I care, others feel happier and more optimistic about life. They can see how God cares about them.
