Hi I'm Taylor

I'm a college student at BYU, I play the fiddle, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a small town in Idaho and have since then lived in St. Louis, Missouri and Iowa. I have an amazing family and am one of 6 children. We love going boating, playing sports together, and having frequent jam sessions. My mom is an incredible musician and has raised us to wok hard and to develop our talents. I picked the violin up when I was 6 years old and since then have enjoyed playing many different styles including, Texas fiddling, bluegrass, classical, rock, jazz, and my personal favorite, Celtic. I am currently a college student at BYU and have had the opportunity to play with and take lessons from many great musicians. I am an undecided major, but am currently looking into Electrical Engineering or Personal Training. I have been very blessed by a loving Heavenly Father who I love so very much. Because of him, I have a fantastic life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church by parents who taught me all of the teachings of the gospel ever since I was little. We have family prayer every night, go to church weekly, and have always strived to have a good spirit in our home. Everything always felt right and I never really thought about the possibility that this wasn't the true church until the summer of my Junior year when I began working for a devout Catholic lady. Everyday I would go to clean her house, she would ask me questions about my religion and would challenge my responses. One day she asked me, how do you know its all true? What if Joseph Smith is just a made up person with a made up story? My first response was, I just know it is, everything feels so right for it to be made up. However, this really got me thinking and encouraged me to find out for myself if this really was the true church. I prayed about it and received a confirmation in my heart that this is the one and only true church on the earth today. I have a strong testimony of this gospel and I know it is lead by my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. I am proud to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints.

How I live my faith

I am a student at BYU so I have the opportunity to be surrounded by others that share my same religion every day. It makes it pretty easy to be good and keep my standards high when so many around me are doing the same. However, throughout High School it was more challenging to always make the right decision. I had to lean on my family and my Heavenly Father a lot more to live my faith and be a good example to others. I currently serve as a member of the Missionary Committee in my ward and I help others strive to be better examples and members missionaries to those around them. My older brother is serving as a full time missionary for our Church in Kingston, Jamaica and has served and preached the gospel to the people there for almost 2 years. He is such a great example to me and has helped me try to be a better missionary and example by living the way the Savior would.
