Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a Mormon and live in Ingalls, Indiana. I am multi-racial and was raised in a single parent home. My Mom joined when I was 2.

About Me

I am 34, married, and have 3 children. My children are my favorite thing to talk about. My son is 3 1/2 months old, almost 15lbs. He is already wearing 6 month and some 9 month clothing. His feelings get hurt if he doesn't get his bottle fast enough. Just today he was crying because he had got a hold of a handful of his own hair. I had people tell me, he looks like he is wearing a wig. He has tons of hair and some hopeless cowlicks. My 3 year old is spunky and at the repeating stage. The repeating stage is when she says something over and over again in an effort to obtain her objectives. My for instances, is I want cereal for dinner. She repeats several times, until she recognizes cereal for dinner or a pop tart is not going to happen. She loves art, singing, and dancing. She is pretty good at the dance games on the WII for her age. My oldest is 8 and a great student. She just made straight A honor roll. She however, doesn't always want to go to school. She would rather hang out with Grandma all day. She was the first grandchild and her grandma is number 1 on her list. We were playing Junior Monopoly, she had to take a hotel based on her chance card. She told me Mommy, I love you but I love Grandma more. Then she said, just a tiny bit more. My husband is a wonderful man. He is my opposite, quiet. Lucky for him I am okay with talking a lot. He also has a wonderful tenor voice and is my best friend.

Why I am a Mormon

I know Heavenly Father has a plan, which is why I am here. I believe I am suppose to work hard no matter my life's circumstances to return to him with honor. I believe that the Book of Mormon is a record that was meant to come forth in our time. However, most of all, I feel it in my heart. I feel the peace and the joy that comes from understanding that I am loved. I know that being Mormon has helped me be a better person.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ is one of the best examples of how to love. I am imperfect but I am trying to be like Jesus. I am learning and trying to follow his way. I am trying to live like he did, in all that I do in say. There are times I fall short, but I keep trying. I try to loose myself in service. Making a meal for someone who is sick or giving someone a ride. It is the small things that help me to remember why I am here.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Jesus was born a Jew and he helped everyone. We could not say this was his church and not follow his example. The church has helped during Tsunami's, Earthquakes, Floods, and Hurricanes. The church has donated over a billion dollars to 167 countries. We like to lend a helping hand. Joesph Smith taught we are to take care of those in need. One of my favorite stories about Joseph Smith is, there was a family that had a major hardship. People were standing around talking about how bad they felt for them. He took $5 dollars from his pocket because he felt enough compassion to do something about it. You can talk about hardships or others sorrows, but we are require to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, take care of widows and orphans. Our hand should be busy doing his work. Show more Show less
