Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm John

I grew up in Utah, Illinois, and Oregon. I'm a loving husband & father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I currently have a young family, and I really enjoy spending time with my family. We enjoy reading together, watching fun movies together, and taking trips together. I enjoy reading, computer programming, gardening, and the sports of running & soccer. I am the Scoutmaster of a local Boy Scout troop. I do my best to provide the boys in my troop with a fun & balanced Scouting experience. I'm very excited to see the youth leaders in the troop learn and grow in their ability to run a Scout troop. I'm also trying to learn how to do the job of Scoutmaster better. I currently work for FamilySearch as a programmer working on Family Tree portion of the site.

Why I am a Mormon

I felt the love of God when I was a young child, and in my teenage years. When I saw the fruits of a faithful life in my parents and in the lives of my grandparents, and in the life of others I admired, I wanted those fruits in my own life. Because of the love and sacrifice of my Savior, I am confident that as long as I stay true to Him I can live with my family in glory with Him forever. This knowledge is precious to me. I have found these fruits in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I do my best to be a loving and patient husband & father. I try to read and study the Bible or the Book of Mormon every day. I serve in my local congregation as a Scoutmaster in conjunction with the youth in the area, whether they are Mormon or not.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

John
I served a mission because I wanted to show my devotion to my Savior who died for me, and because I wanted to share His gospel. I could have chosen to stay at home, but my desire to serve motivated me to put things on hold for two years to give my part to furthering His work in the world. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

John
Yes, families can be together for ever. This is one of the realities that I base my life around every day. This gives me a great peace in my life. Show more Show less
