Hi I'm Steven Untch

I'm a musician, married, Talent Acquisition Specialist, and Mormon.

About Me

Being a musician has always been a hobby of mine. I started as a middle schooler playing trumpet and fell in love with the way it sounded. As I've increased in the knowledge of the instrument and as a musician I've come to understand how much it controls my life. Music can always change how I feel or think in an instant! There are very few things that can do that. (except my wife) After learning the basics of trumpet I tried new things such as playing the French Horn, Tuba, Baritone, Trombone, Piano, Vocal, and even some beatboxing. Whenever I listen to music on the radio or on the internet I really focus on the variety of instruments and sounds used. Eventually I came to the idea of playing or singing some of the hymnals. The Spirit is so strong whenever you play or sing them. I feel music is one of the ways our Heavenly Father humbles our hearts so we can feel His presence. There are times where I'm alone and soothing music will really open my mind and I can feel closer to my Heavenly Father as he speaks to me. I'm humbled and grateful that my Heavenly Father gave me the ability to be a musician! Since then, I've served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Joao Pessoa, Brazil and have married my sweetheart while starting a new career in the staffing industry.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my whole entire life. My parents grew me into the church and the gospel of the living Christ. Their example has pushed me into wanting to serve the Lord by going on a mission. I continue to be active in the church because I have and continue to feel the Spirit with me. It's one of those things where I know that I'm not alone and that I have someone special watching over me at all times. Its very comforting to me to know that my Heavenly Father put a prophet on the Earth to guide me back to Him. The Book of Mormon along with other Gospel Standard literature such as the Bible, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price help me fight through worldly things that want to push me off the right path to my Heavenly Father. These along with many other gospel principles and tools keep my testimony strong as it continues to grow every single day.

How I live my faith

We have been taught that enduring to the end and keeping the faith requires daily nourishing. I have served as a missionary, became an Eagle Scout, Duty to God Program recipient, a pianist for the General Priesthood, and a teacher for youth within the Church. By actively being a member of the restored church I continue to learn and become more like my Savior in everything I do.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Steven Untch
We believe that baptism is the "gateway" to eternal happiness. At the end of the path, we are given the opportunity to live with our Heavenly Father again. As we are baptized by someone who has the proper priesthood authority, we are making promises to God that we will obey His commandments and strive to do our best to earn the eternal reward.
