Hi I'm Lauren

I live in Canada. I go to Uni. I love sports, baking, adventures, memes, traveling, and people who make me laugh. I'm a Mormon. :)

About Me

I'm the youngest of 5 kids in my family. I have 2 step-sisters and 2 biological brothers, although I don't ever call my sisters or mom "step", haha. We're close, despite our lack of any kind of genetic relation. :) I love my family. They make me so happy. Even though I believe you shouldn't rely on anyone to make you happy, I feel pretty lucky that they do (for the most part, haha). I am a daughter of loving earthly and heavenly parents, and I love them all. Right now, I'm going to university and getting my psychology degree. I'm really interested in people and the how's and why's of them. I want to help people! I want to travel the world too. I want to emerse myself in other cultures and learn why they are the way they are. I want to see the beauty that the world has to offer. And I want to create and leave beauty in the world. I hope to go to one new place each year. I love good food, and experimenting in the kitchen and trying to find healthy alternatives (even though it doesn't always work out! haha). But I love a good sweet treat. I love baking, reading, playing sports, singing, laughing, and watching hockey. And hiking too. I also like Pinterest a little too much. I want to take up something like painting or photography soon. And, I love Harry Potter.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger I lived off of my parents testimony of the gospel-I'm very grateful they had those beliefs and values. I was raised in an imperfect, but persistant family. I don't believe in taking things at face value, so talking with God daily and study His words have helped strengthen my own testimony. I love that in this church they encourage you to ask questions and encourage everyone to become converted to Jesus Christ's gospel. And if someone doesn't know an answer, they lead you in the direction to find it. I'm a Mormon because without Jesus Christ and His church restored to the Earth, I would be very confused. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to pray to my Heavenly Father whenever, and to know that He will always answer. I feel so blessed also, to be able to live with Jesus Christ and God again, and to finally see loved ones who have passed on. Basically, I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it makes me happy!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to make good decisions every day, like praying, serving others, studying the scriptures, etc. I know that studying the scriptures everyday with a purpose in mind is wonderful. When we liken the scriptures to ourselves and dig deep for a better understanding, they can make us so happy! It's legit! I love figuring out new things in the gospel; it makes me really excited, and each time, it's like adding to a piece of the puzzle of life. (Excuse the cheesy metaphor). The scriptures really do have the power to answer your prayers. I am not perfect and I make my fair share of mistakes, but I know that Heavenly Father is happy with me when I try. And Jesus Christ died so that we can be forgiven of our mistakes. I've had doubts before, but that doubt can be fuel to understanding. Heavenly Father listens to us and answers our prayers. I know that prayer and the scriptures can answer any question you have in life. Honestly, any question. I also try to be as optimistic as I can, because I know that that creates happiness and that an attitude like that helps you face your trials with that much more faith/hope/patience. It also makes you happy because you can't rely on anyone to make you have joy. I try to be a good person, because it makes me feel good and I want others to understand why my life so different and awesome! I also really want to go on a mission to share how wonderful the gospel is. Because it really is wonderful.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are awesome! But I'm definitely biased in saying that, since I am one. But, as Mormons, we definitely believe that men and women are equal. While men have the opportunity to care for and teach their families partially with the power of the priesthood, women have the opportunity to bear and nurture their children. We are equal, but we have different roles. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Alma 30:40-41 says "Now what evidence have ye that there is no God, or that Christ cometh not? ...I have all things as a testimony that these things are true". God is all around us. He is there in the sun shining down on us. He is there in the knowledge that we get in school. Our bodies are even evidence of Him; and we are all made in the image of God. God is around us and is the reason that things don't happen by chance or coincidence. Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We believe that homosexuality is a sin. This is because our Father in Heaven created a plan for us eternally called the Plan of Salvation, or the Plan of Happiness. This plan was made by God in order for us to be happy, hence the name. One of the most important things we can do in life to be happy, is to have a family. God has ordained marriage only between a man and a woman, and that if they are married under the proper authority, they can be together forever, along with their future children. Families are also a sacred and central part of this plan, and in order to create new human beings to continue families, a man and a woman have to take part. Two people of the same sex cannot do this. Although we regard homosexuality as a sin, we do not dislike people just because they are gay or lesbian. The saying "hate the sin, love the sinner" applies here. I actually have family who are gay, and they are some of the most hilarious and fantastic people I have ever been around. I enjoy their company so much, really! Even though I do not support their decision to be gay, I still love them dearly and we have a wonderful relationship. Show more Show less
