Dylan: Mormon.

Hi I'm Dylan

About Me

I am 28 years old. I grew up in California. I'm currently a college student. I am studying Business Administration. I served in the U.S. Navy for 4 1/2 years. I have traveled to Canada, Mexico, Spain, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Tunisia, Jordan, and Dubai. I served as a full-time Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 2 years in Western Canada.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to follow Jesus Christ. We can follow Jesus Christ by having faith in Him, repenting of our sins, being baptized, becoming members of His Church, and sincerely striving with our whole heart to keep God's commandments for the rest of our lives. The Book of Mormon testifies that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer and also "tells men what they must do to gain peace in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come" (Introduction to the Book of Mormon). The Gospel of Jesus Christ is God's plan for us to be truly happy in our lives and to bring our families closer together.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer plays a huge part in my life. Prayer is a two-way communication with God, or Heavenly Father. We can speak to Him in prayer, and He speaks to us through HIs Spirit, which we feel in the form of thoughts, feelings and impressions. I often ask God for guidance, peace, love for others, and specific blessings to help me in my life.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we believe in prophets and apostles just as they were called of God anciently. Just as the Prophets in ancient times like Abraham, Moses and Isaiah, God has again called a Prophet in modern times. Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. He lived in the early 1800's in the Eastern United States. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God. Joseph in Egypt, the son of Jacob, foretold of a Prophet who would come forth in the last days, whose name would be Joseph, who would bear the same name as his father. Joseph Smith's father was also named Joseph. Through Joseph Smith, God restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to the earth. I know that Joseph is a Prophet because I have read every page of the Book of Mormon, I have pondered it, and prayed to know that it is true. The Book of Mormon has blessed my life immensely and I am thankful that God has given us Prophets in modern times.

How I live my faith

In the New Testament, James wrote, "I will shew thee my faith by my works" (James 2:18). I believe that we can live our faith by making a lifelong commitment to follow the perfect example of Jesus Christ. The Savior taught His disciples in the Americas to follow Him by becoming as He is. He taught them, "what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am" (3 Nephi 27:27). Additionally, we can live our faith by doing missionary work. Jesus Christ commanded His disciples, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20).
