Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon. I was born and raised in the Midwest.

About Me

I like to fix things around the house. I also enjoy reading.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of a young lady I met at school. She brought me over to her Mom and Dad's and there I experienced Family Home Evening and other such "Mormon" things. I began taking the discussions, not at her home, but at a neighbor's, just down the street, because my own parents wouldn't allow the missionaries into our house. The neighbors, turned out to be great, and still helped me get to church even after that young lady and I broke things off. I was amazed, while taking the discussions, that the missionaries answered questions that I didn't know that I had. And, when someone gave me some Anti-Mormon literature, the missionaries helped me to understand that the pamphlets were just small parts of truth, surrounded by mostly fiction. I could feel the difference between the contentious literature and the kind, loving explanations given by the missionaries. I kind of drifted away from the church, after I was baptized, but, a death in the young lady's family made me really want to know what was true, and, I came back, determined to find out for myself what was really true.

How I live my faith

I've learned so much of the Gospel from my responsibilities in Church. I've had a chance to teach: a group of 12 & 13 year-olds, the men's group, another group that was learning how to teach in church, the Adult Sunday School class, and, my favorite, the Gospel essentials class, teaching those who are investigating the Church. I've also served in different auxiliaries and currently assist the Bishop in our congregation.(Ward)
