Hi I'm Tim

I'm a college student at USU, I love to hang out with friends and find new music to listen to, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently returned from serving a mission in the greatest mission in the world, which is the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission. It was an amazing experience, filled with things I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life. I learned a lot about life and what truly brings happiness. The Gospel and living it is what brings happiness. I love listening to music, especially classical music. I listen to other genres as well. I wouldn't say I have any particular favorites concerning artists, composers or songs. If the song is good and connects somehow with me and my life, I'll listen to the song. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints encourages good, uplifting music, which is a standard I appreciate and respect. I love to learn new things and help others to have great learning experiences as well. Increasing my knowledge of this wonderful world around us and then being able to apply and recognize what I have gained through study is amazing to me. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints encourages education and progression, which is something I value as well. I am currently attending school at Utah State University and love it. I am in the Huntsman School of Business and going into accounting and economics.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up my whole life as a Mormon; going to church, reading the Book of Mormon, and other Mormon things are just part of the culture I grew up in. However, as I started getting older, I had to find out for myself if this is what I wanted to be for the rest of my life. So instead of just going through the motions I grew up with, I started trying to feel the Spirit in the things that I did. Instead of just reading the Book of Mormon, I studied it, asked questions about it, and I have yet to find a question about the Book of Mormon that does not have a satisfactory answer. I have felt the Holy Spirit testify to me that these writings of the ancient American prophets are true. I have felt the Spirit tell me that the words of testimonies of other people from modern prophets to friends are true. And so, I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I do the best I can to live the teachings and principles I taught for two years on my mission. I recognize that I am not perfect, and no one else is either, but we can always progress towards perfection, and that's my goal.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Tim
The Word of Wisdom is basically a law of health. As we follow this law, we are blessed with a healthy body and mind, and as a result, are better able to feel the Holy Ghost. If we damage our bodies with things such as tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, drugs, or any other addictive substance, it will be harder for us to feel the promptings of the Spirit. Also, by following this law, we gain more self control. The things that the Word of Wisdom prohibit are all things that turn into vices or addictions. Avoiding these substances gives us more freedom and control over what we do and who we will become. Show more Show less
