Hi I'm Daren

I was born and raised in Colorado. I love all of God's creations... even mosquitoes... and especially Deet. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm pretty normal. I wake up, go to work, work hard, come home, go to bed... and repeat it the next day. The life I truly enjoy is the parts that are in-between those just stated. I married my high-school sweetheart who now is my eternal sweetheart. We first met on my school bus when she was riding along with her grandmother who happened to be my bus driver. Our paths crossed again in high school and haven't separated ever since now some 30 years later. We now have three sons, two daughter-in-laws, two grandsons, and two-and-a-half granddaughters (one is on the way:) We especially love to do outdoor activities with our family and friends. I don't like to go on and on about myself... I love my Savior, my family, and my country.

Why I am a Mormon

I was very curious about "Mormons" since my wife (then girlfriend) was a member. I remember what my dad, who's parents wanted him to be a Methodist preacher, had told me when I commented to him about " Joe Smith and those Mormons". He simply said to me, "my dad had nothing but good to say about Mormons". Shut me up and made me take an approach with a bit more respect. I started "hitting the books" and praying for guidance... I didn't get it right away, I was kind of slow on the "up-take" on deep subjects such as these. I did read the Book of Mormon and right away knew of its truthfulness. I had realized soon after that if the book was of God, then how it came to my hands was also of God. I let my pessimistic fences down and allowed the Holy Ghost enter my heart with a confirmation of truth that I will never deny.

How I live my faith

"Actions speak louder than words" my father always said and "you can't judge a book by its cover". You want to know if something is right, true, or worth your time here on earth... look at those people that emulate what you feel represents this things, and you then find the attributes of what you seek. I find comfort in knowing that I'm not perfect, never will be while I am here on this earth. Also in knowing that neither will anyone else... except for one; Jesus Christ, who is my (our) redeemer. He was and is perfect and because of this, he will help me become perfect, so that I (and others like me) can be worthy to be in the presence of our Heavenly Father, His Son... Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

As a theologically curious young man, I had come to a conclusion that if one Gospel was the correct one, mankind would have the intelligence to have discovered it. That being said, a logical conclusion would be that by now, we would have only one Gospel if a true one actually existed. As a child I played the "telephone game" where you told the child next to you a phrase, then they told the next, and this continues throughout the group. By the time it got all the way around, it was nothing like what I had originally said. Those in the group didn't try to modify or change it on purpose... it just happened due to misunderstandings or interpretations. This holds true with the Gospel of Jesus Christ as well. We have been given most of what we need to follow Him with the words that have been recorded for centuries now. It is time you hear the true Gospel from the original source. Follow James' counsel as found in his book of James 1:5,6... and you shall be told the truth. Show more Show less
