Hi I'm Matt

I grew up on a cattle ranch in Az.I now live in Id. My wife and I have 4 boys, and Im a Mormon

About Me

I'm an Arizona boy who grew up on a ranch. I loved working hard with my brothers, grandpa, and dad. One of my favorite things was spending time on the tractor. It gave me time to think and to ponder what the Lord had in store for me. In the summer time, I loved sitting on the porch at night and looking at the countless stars. As a child I was taught to cook almost anything in a dutch oven. This is something that I now pass on to my four boys. As a family we love to ride ATV's, and go for long family walks. I spent 9 years in the military as a firefighter, and currently have a job in fire protection. I love my wife and boys, and the Lord has blessed me tremendously throughout my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Even the smallest of things I can be thankful for, the roof over my head, the warmth of my house, and the family that I have around me. As I look back on my life, I can see many roads that I have traveled. Some were windy, some straight, some I hold with fondness, some I would like to forget. But through it all, I have never lost my belief in a supreme being. A creator who gives me hope and something to hold on to in the darkest days of my life. I was told once that my belief in God was a foolish and vain way to make me feel happy over something that did not exist. But through my life, I have seen miracles ranging from finding a lost child, to the bringing back to life of my youngest son by using the authority of the priesthood. God lives, He loves us, and wants us to have joy and return back to Him through His son Jesus Christ. As my father once told me "There are worse things than than dying", and to live my life without the tender mercies and love of my Heavenly Father would be one of them.

How I live my faith

I am currently the ward mission leader, and find great joy in fellowshipping and serving those who have questions about our beliefs. Before this calling I worked for many years with the youth. I found that they taught me more than I could ever teach them. I love to go out and visit families, not only those whom I home teach, but people in our community who just need to see a smiling face, and know that somebody loves them and cares about them. I strive to teach my boys to live their lives in such a way that others will want to know Christ because of the way they live their lives, and that others will see the light of Christ in their eyes.
