Hi I'm Becca

For now I work for Walt Disney World but I hope to one day become a nurse and work in pediatric oncology. And I'm a Mormon =)

About Me

I come from a family of 7 with 4 older siblings and a wonderful mother and father whom I love SO much! I love to do almost anything outdoors! My family and I love to be outside in the sunshine dirt bike riding, fishing, camping, wakeboarding, etc. I love eating sweet treats and ice cream. You could win me over with anything peanut buttery or chocolaty! I have been a dancer almost all of my life and I love teaching dance! I taught different dance styles to a wide variety of ages at a dance studio in Rigby while attending Brigham Young University Idaho. I absolutely love BYU Idaho! I want so badly to be able to stay there for the nursing program because I love the spirit that the school has. I wouldn’t change my education there for anything. I have met so many fun people and have been a part of some amazing wards =) I am on my way to becoming a nurse and I hope to end up working in pediatric oncology. I am currently a part of the Disney College Program working at Walt Disney World as a character attendant and loving it! I have had so many magical moments with the guests and cast members there as well as some extra memories that I have made with my friends even when we are just in our apartment. After my program I hope to obtain my CNA by April while volunteering for the Make A Wish foundation. Working for Disney has increased my desire to work with terminally ill children. I want to be able to bring hope to them as well as their family.

Why I am a Mormon

The first thing that I thought of when I read this question is "I am Mormon because I was raised in the church." But then I pondered another minute more and thought, "Why wouldn't I be Mormon is the real question." I have had so many moments where I have realized that there is no way that this is not the true Church. One night while I was at school I was laying in bed when I realized I forgot to say my evening prayer. I sat up in my bed and I saw a gorgeous white building outside my window. I had a perfect view of the temple outside my bedroom window that semester and that was the reason why I rarely closed my blinds. I always wanted to fall asleep and wake up to a beautiful sight. As I stared at the Rexburg Temple I began to cry. I had such a strong feeling of the Spirit that it flooded not only my body but my whole room. In that moment I realized that there was no way I would ever be able to deny the Spirit and the promptings He gives me. Another experience that happened not too long ago took place here in Orlando. I was going to Church with my friends one of the first weeks being here and the second I walked into the chapel I felt a rush of the Spirit go through my body again and a few tears fell from my cheek. I hadn't been to a Church meeting for a few weeks so that feeling of familiarity felt so peaceful and was another testimony to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true Church.

How I live my faith

I love the fact that I have had so many opportunities to share the gospel with those around me while I have been here in Florida. Before coming here I have thought about serving a full-time mission for the Church but I never really thought I would because I was too scared to mention the gospel with anyone because I never wanted to offend anyone or make them feel uncomfortable in any way by bringing it up. However, one of my good friends from work has inspired me to share the gospel with others around me. By accepting my invitation I offered to him to come to Church he has changed my life in ways that I didn't know was possible. I have now decided that I will prepare myself to serve a mission whether or not I end up serving one. Being on the Disney College Program I have had limited opportunities to go to Church on Sunday because sometimes my work schedule does not compliment attending Church meetings. However, not being able to go to Church has instilled a greater desire to go than I even had before. You know how they say you don't know what you have until it's gone. In a way I believe that. I didn't realize how much of a blessing it was that I got to go to three full hours of church every single Sunday before I came to Florida. But now that I do not get that, I try everything in my power to get each Sunday off so that I can attend at least one hour of Church. I have also set a goal to finish the Doctrine and Covenants before the end of my program and a second one to finish the Book of Mormon during this upcoming winter semester. While I am on the bus every morning, I bring a Church Ensign magazine or another Church published work so I can read it on my way to work. Reading these has encouraged me to follow the words of the Prophets and has strengthened my testimony of the truthfulness of the Church. One of my favorite parts about Sunday is listening to religious music. Music is so powerful to me and each song is its own testament that God lives and that He is good.
