Hi I'm Tyler Owens

I was born and raised in Burley, Idaho. I lived in Europe for a time. Like to hang out with my family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to play sports and be active. I played baseball and football in High School and continue to play those sports non-competitively in college. Rock climbing is something that has always been exciting to me. I lived in Europe for two years on a service mission for my church and loved meeting new people from many different countries. I loved learning of their cultures and hope to visit those people I met again some day. I'm from a fairly small city for the state of Idaho but really small compared to other cities and states. I feel like being from an isolated small city has really helped me to remain humble through my life and I have been taught how to work hard. I love my family and friends for the wonderful examples they are for me. I love camping in the mountains and going for rides on four-wheelers and snowmobiles. I'm very friendly and love to interact with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always Mormon. I grew up not going to any church but when my parents divorced my sweet grandmother began taking me to the Mormon church. I loved it from the first day and soon enough my mother and two brothers were also coming along. Next, the Mormon missionaries were at our house teaching us about the church. Eventually I was baptized along with my older brother. I've been a Mormon ever since and have done my best to show that to others. I'm a Mormon because of the love of my family. I'm a Mormon because of the love of God. I feel that God prepared me to accept his truth by placing me in situations that would show me the right way. When I saw and felt that right way I followed. Soon afterwards I had the Holy Ghost there to guide me further along. I'm a Mormon because it makes sense. I wasn't raised with religion in my background but I have been to different churches and have friends of different faiths, but it just didn't make any sense to me. When I truly figured out what Mormonism is all about and what we actually beleive I knew that it was right. I felt it. I couldn't explain at first what it was but am able to now. I'm a Mormon because Jesus Christ wants me to be. He spoke to a man named Joseph Smith and appointed him to restore the true church of Jesus Christ once again on the earth. He taught him through revelation and sending angels to help answer Joseph's questions about the truth. Through Joseph Smith the truth about the purpose of life here on Earth and where we will go after this life have been revealed to man. I'm a Mormon because I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and every man called to be the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was appointed to be a prophet to lead and guide the children of God. I know that this is the true church here on the earth and that is why I'm a Mormon

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to be like Christ each day. I help people when they need it. I am honest in the things that I do and strive to become a better person each day. I live my faith by standing up for what it is that i believe and know to be right. It is said,"A man who doesn't stand for something will fall for anything." I look forward to a world that continues to get darker and more wicked with an optimistic attitude that not all men are bad. There needs to be a change in morals and virtue in the world yes, but the world isn't a lost cause. I try to help someone each day. Whether it be by serving them or simply saying hello or listening to someone when they need to talk and let off some steam, I try to help them. Hopefully that in turn will lead others to continue those acts of charity for others who need it and create a domino effect of random acts of kindness. I live my faith within the Mormon religion by helping lead a group of young single adult males. Together we discuss and teach things about Christ and how we can become more like him. We organize and plan activities where we can get together and become more united in friendship and brotherhood. I group that is there for you when you are having a hard time. I served a two year service mission for the Mormon church and hope to continue living my faith for others. I hope to be a good example for my little brother and other family members and friends.
