Hi I'm Geraldine

I'm a young mom with two kids. I have brain cancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom with two kids. My everyday is all about getting them fed, clean, and happy. I volunteer in their classrooms and take them to ice skating lessons. We are huge fans of the public library. However, everyday is more precious to me since I was diagnosed with brain cancer. My youngest kid was just a baby and the doctor told me that with treatment I could expect 3-5 years. Thanks to a great medical team, I'm still around to see my baby in kindergarten. My cancer is now "sleeping" but I live every day with uncertainty about my future and my family's future.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my church that teaches about a life after death, and the life we had before birth. Our life on earth is a small part of our existence and when you put that in perpective, death is no longer a tragedy to fear. Jesus Christ makes it possible to somday be resurrected and have a body without scars from surgery, with all my hair on that thin spot from radiation, and just the right amount of brain cells, not too few and not too many. :) I am grateful to my Saviour for His sacrifice that makes life with our family after death possible. As I pray, I feel comforted that He is aware of me and my family's needs. The miracle of peace and love that I feel is real. I don't need a physical healing to prove that God loves me. I know He lives and loves me and that brightens every day I have with my family now.

How I live my faith

I like helping out at church and feeling useful. I have been helped so much during the worst times of my illness that I am ready to do (or try to do) anything I am asked. Currently, I am involved with Cub Scouts. Scouting is a great program and needs behind-the-scenes support (like me!) to have a good organized program. I also teach a class to adult women one Sunday a month. I am often asked to play the piano as a substitute and I love the peaceful music and messages that we use.
