Hi I'm Derek

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have wife and 4 great kids. I'm a dentist in Florida. I love to run, bike, and golf. I'm an Ohio State Buckeye fan.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because I have studied the teachings of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints and have felt that they are true. There are two parts to my knowledge that this is God's church on earth. First is the fact that as I read the Book of Mormon and other modern day scriptures and revelations, the teachings there make sense. They answer questions that I have had about life, death, and what comes after that. They help guide me in a direction to live my life and be a good man and a great father. Not that I always live up to that, but I try, and I know what I should be doing. The teachings don't tie me down or limit what I can and can't do. They actually give me freedom from the things in this world that can drag me down and cause me to harm myself and others. The second and even more important part to my knowledge that this church is true is that I have FELT it. That means more than all the reading and studying I can do. I have felt the spirit of God witness to me that this is His church, and that is undeniable.

How I live my faith

I work with the young men in my ward every week in helping them work towards recieving their Eagle Scout award as well as other church advancements like earning their duty to God certificicate. I love the young men I work with. They are a great example to me of how you can be a righteous youth even in the crazy and sometimes dangerous world today.
