Hi I'm Kristi

I'm a sister and a daughter. I'm an avid reader, and I love it when I can convince others to read what I'm reading. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter, sister and owner of two obese cats and quite possibly the cutest puppy ever. I love to read, and I've been known to stay up until all hours of the night, because I couldn’t sleep without knowing “what happens next?” I love to laugh, and I love to sing even though I have to crank up the radio to cover for the fact that I can’t carry a tune. I love to cook, and sometimes I eat dessert for breakfast, because pie is too good to wait until after dinner.

Why I am a Mormon

I know how much my Heavenly Father loves me. Even though I was raised in the church, it took me a long time to understand this fundamental truth. God loves me. He loves each of his children so much “that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”(John 3:16) For too long I couldn’t see what an amazing promise is given in these words. I stopped going to church regularly in my late teens. I was angry about some of the bad things that happened in my life, and I couldn’t understand why a loving God would let so many terrible things happen in His world. I tried to be a good person, but no matter how good I tried to be on my own, I still felt like something was missing. It took me years to hit rock bottom. I was desperately unhappy before I finally figured out that I couldn’t fix my life by myself. My prayers took on a different tenor. I began to ask God where I had gone wrong and what I needed to do to be happy again. The answer came to me: “…love God with all your might, mind and strength.” (Moroni 10:32) Our Heavenly Father loves us more than we can imagine. He loved us so much that He prepared a way for us to return to Him through the atonement of Jesus Christ. In return, He asks that we love Him and keep His commandments. I know that a willingness to repent and follow God is the true path to happiness in this life.

How I live my faith

I love going to chuch on Sunday and being with others who share my faith in Jesus Christ. But that's just the beginning. The church offers many opportunities from service projects to social events to Institute classes for young adults that give me a chance to learn and grow. I enjoy studying the scriptures and words of modern day apostles and prophets, because when I do, I can feel how much my Heavenly Father loves me. The more I learn of the gospel, the more I stand in awe of the amazing love that created all of us and still provides for us today. I love spending time with my family, because I know that they too are gifts from God sent to strengthen me and help me on my way back to Him.
