Hi I'm Lori

I'm a mother of three energetic children, I love photography, brilliant sunsets and reading, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the central and western United States and love feeling the wind in my face and enjoy the mountains of the Rocky Mountain West. I've always dreamed of living on a ranch and riding horses whenever I want. Instead, I grew up in a small town on the Texas plains and later a big city in Arizona, learning to navigate busy streets instead. I married my wonderful husband just prior to completing a Bachelors degree at the local university and now employ my skills and the knowledge I learned as I teach our three young children about life and how to succeed and help others. Being a mother is the toughest and most rewarding job I've ever had!

Why I am a Mormon

My family have been members of the church for generations, and I learned about the gospel and felt the peace it brings, throughout my childhood. As a teenager I wanted to know for sure if everything I had been taught, and believed, was really true. I believe the Lord hears and answers our prayers, so I sincerely prayed the specific questions of "Do you know ME?" and "Is this Thy church and Thy gospel?" I had studied both the Bible and the Book of Mormon and expected to have my questions answered with the Lord's words there, as I sat down to read the next time, as often happens as answers to my prayers. Instead, while I knelt on my knees, I was encompassed in a warm and overwhelming feeling of Peace and Love. I heard the Lord speak to my mind and heart; "Lori, you already know this is true, you've felt it all your life." The Holy Spirit continues to confirm truths to my soul, through good music, impressions, scripture study and daily experiences. I know the Lord knows each one of us by name, that He is concerned for our welfare and that He will guide us in our life's choices as we allow Him to. We can feel His direction and sometimes hear directions given to our hearts and minds by the Holy Spirit. I am so grateful for this gift!

How I live my faith

My children will readily tell you that I'm not perfect, not that I claim to be, but I do try my best to live as I think the Lord wants me to. I try to treat others as I imagine Jesus would. I try to be quick to forgive, to give others the benefit of the doubt, to go the extra mile in loving and serving others around me. I try to develop my skills and talents to better help others and serve in positions that often help me to stretch myself. At church I've learned skills to help me feed and entertain crowds, make quilts and hygiene kits for disaster relief accross the world, provide relief in the communities where I have lived, participate in large dance festivals and conferences for youth, meals for individuals and families in need, learned to can and store food for my family, sew clothes, participate in music and family history research conferences and more. Life moves along quickly and I still have so much I want to learn! I currently work with a large group of toddlers where I get to wipe away tears, give hugs, teach them how to share their toys, make playdoh 'cakes', sing songs, give high-five's and learn how to recognize the Lord's love for them. It's a great place to grow.
