Hi I'm Lance

I love technology, computers, and computer gaming. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an IT Director for a Medical Imaging Facility. I am fortunate enough to have a job where every day I can use technology in creative ways to help other people. I love tinkering with technology. My home has always (and always will) have more computers in it than people. I am an avid computer gamer. Every month, I organize a computer gaming party. About 20 people each month lug their computers over to someone's basement and we play games together, socialize, and just have fun. I enjoy being active and playing basketball once a week. I love playing with my children and helping them learn new things. I am fortunate to be married to a woman who doesn't seem to mind my fascination with technology and loves me for who am I am. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace that fills my heart and mind thinking of the eternal nature of families. Having an eternal perspective of my life and knowing that the relationships I form with my wife and children will continue long after my death brings a depth to our family that would not exist without being a member of this church. I am a Mormon because I want to live with my family forever. People that are active members of this church and in positions of leadership do it purely because they want to serve one another. There is no monetary benefit to hold a position in this church. There is no praise of men that comes to those in leadership positions in this church. Every position is temporary. There is no other reason why someone would sacrifice so much of their time and talents to something that they do not get any personal benefit from unless they genuinely felt that what they were doing mattered more than themselves. This self-sacrifice of every active church member is deep and true. I am a Mormon because it takes sacrifice to serve. God guides my life on a daily basis. I can feel his influence through the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. I have moments of insight and inspiration that I know did not come from my own mind. Every member of this church believes that God can and does inspire us and communicate to us individually. I am a Mormon because God wants me to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday for 3 hours. The first hour is a general meeting for everyone to be together and listen to talks prepared by other church members that brings their unique perspective to a gospel topic. For the 2nd and 3rd hours of church I am responsible for watching and teaching the gospel to children that are 1 and half to 3 years old. Primarily I am responsible for preparing short lessons and activities that help keep them engaged and entertained while learning a gospel principle. It is interesting to see that even at such a young age these children can grasp so much through the inspiration of the Spirit of God. At work I do my best to be a good example by being honest and friendly with everyone I work with. At home I do my best to be a positive influence on my family. Among friends I do my best to not do anything that would be displeasing to our Heavenly Father.
