Hi I'm Jesse

I love music, drumming, playing basketball, and most of all I love being a mormon...

About Me

I was raised in central California and loved it. I have a great family that supports me in everything good that I do in my life. I love watching/listening to/playing music. I have a very diverse and broad span of musical taste. I think that the music you listen to can tell a lot about your mood and who you are. I myself love music that has a good beat, hence the reason for me being a drummer. I also enjoy playing basketball. I played in high school and continue to play whenever I have the opportunity.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because there are too many things that have happened in my life to make me believe otherwise. I have come to develop a strong testimony that God is our Heavenly Father. He delicately and precisely places and allows things to happen in our life because he knows who we are supposed to become, and he knows how to help us get there. I was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but I, just like many others, had to develop my own personal testimony of Jesus Christ and His church. Later on in my youth (my high school years), I was tested in my faith nearly every day. I started to develop friendships and make choices that I knew were contrary to how I was raised. In turn, my faith in Jesus Christ was put on the backburner while I continued to drift off the path that I knew was right. In due time, I came to a realization that I had to make crucial decisions in my life, such as college, serving a mission for the church, job career, and family. I really had to evaluate where I was at in my life and where I wanted to eventually be. No other path, besides the gospel of Jesus Christ could direct me towards the things which I desired the most. I decided to make necessary changes in my life so that I could become more of who I wanted to be and even more importantly, who my Father in heaven wanted me to be. Through making these changes in my life I have come to know that Jesus Christ suffered for me personally. I have a strong testimony that His grace is sufficient for all who have a sincere desire to change their lives and do the things which have been commanded of us (a.k.a. live the life of a christian). Being commanded to "be ye therefore perfect" is a daunting task, but as we continually repent of mistakes, and try to follow the straight and narrow path which our Savior has set for us, we can be cleansed of our sins and become "therefore perfect" through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading and studying the inspired words found in the scriptures and from modern day prophets, and then applying what I learn. For example, we learn in the book of Matthew that Jesus Christ said "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." This is one of the main reasons that I am currently devoting 2 years of my life to serve the Lord as a missionary in the Kentucky area. Through teaching others the Gospel of Jesus Christ I have seen my faith increase immensely. I also live my faith by striving to be a good example at all times. In Paul's counsel to Timothy he says to "be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." I have a strong belief that the way we live can have a huge impact on others. Today we live in a world full of immorality and temptation. I know that as we make righteous decisions and live the gospel of Jesus Christ we can in turn make a huge impact for good on the lives of many.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Jesse
You can know mormonism is true by not taking anyone else's word for it except for God's. We believe strongly that God is our loving Heavenly Father and wants us to know the "truth of all things". As we pray and ask Heavenly Father to know if what we have been reading out of the Book of Mormon is true, or if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His kingdom here on earth, we can receive an answer through the feelings, thoughts, or impressions we receive from the Holy Ghost. God answers the prayers of all His children, as long as they are sincere in wanting to know, have faith that God will answer their prayers, and really intend to act upon the answer they receive. As I continue to live the gospel of Jesus Christ and continue to pray about the Book of Mormon my faith is strengthened and I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or "Momonism", is true. Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Jesse
Yes. We know that God is an unchanging God who always gives us His counsel through prophets. The prophet today has the same commission that Moses did, which was to lead God's children to a place full of more happiness and peace. By listening to and following the counsel of the prophet today, we can know through the Spirit that Thomas S. Monson is God's chosen servant in these modern times. Show more Show less
