Hi I'm Mikayla!

Hi, I'm Mikayla. I'm a college student, Biology major, marching band fanatic, future missionary, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Mikayla. I grew up in a small town and now live in a slightly less small town. I am attending college as a Biology major and hope to continue on to a University to pursue a career in Forensic Biology. I love anything music. I am currently on a Flute scholarship and have a love hate relationship with marching/concert band. I love this gospel and have a strong desire to share it which is why I have chosen to serve a mission after this semester.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ has gotten me through the toughest of times. When I have struggled, I have felt my savior's love carrying me. We can take all of our burdens and lay them upon the savior and he will lift us up. I have felt the gospel's presence the strongest in my life when I have been tried with trial. In my latter high school years I struggled with stress anxiety which led me to some dark places emotionally. Never have I felt more lost or more scared. For months I never told anyone, I ignored the spirit which we call the holy ghost. This spirit is also referred to as the comforter. After struggling all on my own a woman in my local church began to notice me. She herself had struggles with anxiety and saw the patterns from her own personal struggle in me. This woman pulled me aside and showed me how much the savior Jesus Christ can help me if I just prayed and read the holy scriptures. I received a blessing from priesthood members. These priesthood members hold special keys given to the people of the latter days. These spiritual keys give them the ability to share god's power directly through their bodies to others in the form of a blessing. This blessing provided the beginning of my journey to exit anxiety. Slowly but surely after reading the scriptures and praying fervently to our father in heaven, I haven't quite conquered this condition but I feel the constant love and companionship of the spirit to help me along the way and that's enough. Through this church I have first hand witnessed what faith in The Lord Jesus Christ can do for my sake. I love this gospel. I love my Savior and my Father in Heaven. I love The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I take classes at my local institute of religion. This is a place that you can go and learn different areas of the gospel. In my past I've taken classes on The Book of Mormon and classes on Missionary Prep. The institute is a fun, social place to make friends and hear the strongest of testimonies. I go there for comfort and peace when I am feeling anxious or scared. There are no strangers there. Everyone makes me feel safe and loved.
