Hi I'm Kaylla

I love music. I love the outdoors. I love my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah Valley, and am the youngest of five children. I have been very blessed with two parents who love me very much. I love to play the guitar and piano and write my own songs. I love all kinds of music and always have. I love to read and write and just be creative with my hands or anything I have. I also love being outdoors, hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking or slack-lining or just messing around. I served an LDS proselyting mission in Sao Paulo Brazil for 18 months where I learned a lot about how to really live what I believe. It was one of the hardest things I ever decided to do but also one of if not the most worthwhile thing I have done. I love the people of Brazil with all of my heart. I am a substitute teacher and will be studying to be an elementary ed music teacher, combining two things I love into one, music and teaching. I think it is one of the most beautiful things to help someone else realize something they never knew before.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it's the true! Just read the Book of Mormon and you can know and feel that too, because it's a promise. If you read, ponder and then pray about it then you can know too. And I did that. And I never heard a voice saying "hey! it's true!" but I did feel peace, and I observed the fruits of it and I recognized the happiness that it brought to my life and the life of my family. I felt God's love for me through the principles of the gospel and through reading the Book of Mormon and constantly learning more. So that's how I know, because I tasted of that fruit and there is truly nothing more wonderful in my life than living in such a way that God can be happy to call me his daughter. I can't deny that and I don't want to. I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy to follow my heart and the truth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing it, by loving and serving others, and by constantly trying to be better each and every day. As Christ showed us by his whole life, we should live our faith like he did his, forgetting about ourselves and thinking only of another's happiness. If each one of us took time each day to make at least one person smile, just imagine the effect that that would have? We are aren't perfect, but Christ challenged us to be, so I try to go about doing that. Because of that I love feedback and criticism. It helps me grow. I live my faith by trying to be like Christ.

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Life is an event and that event happens at conception, thus when it is said that that fetus is not viable, that is not true. That child is being murdered. The church is against abortion because it is taking away one of God's most precious gifts, that of life and choice. As spirit children of God we each chose to come here to earth to learn and grow and be tested so that we could become stronger and like Him someday. But when another person decides to take that away by aborting that baby, they not only take that life, they take that choice, both of which are very wrong. Also, in the 70's the church made a statement that yes, they opposed abortion but in cases where the life of the mother was threatened or the baby was the result of rape then abortion may be considered, however it is strongly suggested that both divine confirmation be received along with counseling from your local presiding priesthood authority.
