Hi I'm Jon

I was born and raised in Nevada. I sing in choirs. I'm a diesel mechanic and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be outdoors! Some of my favorite things are riding ATV's, rock climbing, swimming and the list continues. I also love to sing! I spent all four years of high school participating in the choir. Being in the choir has taken me to New York City, Hawaii, and SanFrancisco (twice), where we were competing in compititions. I'm also a certified diesel mechanic.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church, but under some unusual circumstances. My dad has not been active in the church since he was 14, and my mom is a convert to the church. She became a member shortly after her and my dad got married. Among the confusion I have had much support from my dad’s side of the family, who almost all active members. I also grew up with a lot of friends in the church who have helped me on the way. Just like everyone else I did, at some point, have to find out for myself that it was true. I started questioning what I had been taught and learned all my life shortly after graduation. It began with many of my friends leaving to go and serve full-time missions for the church and leaving me to find new friends to start hanging out with. By this time the summer had past and I had started college, studying to become a diesel mechanic, so I started to pick up friend form here. These new friends were not the best influences and started to take me down some dark paths. Thinking that I was just out to have a good time and enjoy life I strayed away from the teachings of the church. Although having a good time, I seemed to be in a low place in life and not very happy, and I could see that my friends who had left everything for two years were very happy. I couldn’t see how this was, they were away from everyone and everything, and I was here with an excellent job, friends and whatever else I wanted yet they were still happier than me. These friends and they all kept encouraging me to serve a mission, but I didn’t feel it was the thing for me. Eventually I knew that I needed to make a decision of what I was going to do, so I did the best thing I knew to do. Pray and ask Heavenly Father if I needed to go on a mission. I didn’t receive an answer right then and there but within the next week every one of my church leaders asked me when I was planning to go on a mission. There was my answer! I started to do all the thing that I needed to do to prepare myself.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving as a full-time missionary, leaving my family, friends, school, and work behind for two years. Crazy? I don't think so it has been the best time in my life so far!
