Hi I'm Claralyn

I love photography. I love to travel and meet new people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to travel. Giraffes are my favorite animal. I love curling up with a good book. I play basketball, volleyball, and soccer. I love photography. I lived in Germany for 5 years. Because I feel that education is so important, I love going to school and learning. I have been to 24 countries and some of my favorites are Germany, New Zealand, Italy, and Norway. My favorite temple is the Washington D.C. one. I enjoy being active, so playing sports, rock climbing, being outside, hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church so it has always been part of my life. However, it has definitely been a choice for me to stay in the church. When I was a teenager I realized that I did not consistently do the things I professed to doing: reading scriptures every night, saying personal prayers, and striving to be like Christ. I knew the Gospel was something I loved and I had a lot of good feelings about it. I trusted my parent's testimonies and those who taught me. So I decided to really live the gospel, more than just going through the motions in order to complete my Personal Progress. And I had definitely felt the spirit before, at Girl's Camp for instance. But my conversion came when I put the effort into my testimony. I did, and still do, read scriptures--and really study them, mark them up, study by theme--pray, pay attention during conference to the Spirit, and be more aware of how I treat others. All of these things and the continuance of spiritual experiences have strengthened my conviction about the gospel. I know Christ lives. He is our Savior, Redeemer, and Advocate with the Father. He is our elder brother and payed the price so we could return to our Heavenly Father. Isn't that a fabulous thing? I know that prayer is essential to our happiness. When we set aside the time to communicate with our Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we will be blessed. I know this church has been restored so that the full knowledge of the gospel can be brought to the world, so that everyone can have the chance to be happy. I am grateful for my family and for the sealing powers that allow us to be together forever. The gospel has allowed me to be so much more happy in life than I think I otherwise would have been.

How I live my faith

I live my faith mainly through example. I pray every morning to have the opportunity to serve someone or to be aware of other's needs. And yes, sometimes it is hard to be happy when you've had a bad day, but I think that is the time to smile even more. I am big believer in attitude and how it effects many things. And so, in living my faith I feel like when I choose a happier attitude it changes everything around me. In my church calling, I reach out to the girls whom I supervise for Visiting Teaching. I try to be an example to them by getting my things done before I ask them to do theirs, or while I ask them to do theirs.
