Hi I'm Kristin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a young, professional adult living in one of the country's most beautiful and diverse cities- our nation's capitol. I chose to bring my life to this place for personal, professional and spiritual growth almost a year ago and have loved every moment of the adventure. I am an avid runner and take full advantage of the scenic state parks and running trails the area has to offer. I feel fortunate to be a part of the hustle and bustle of big-city life with the option to retreat to quieter towns and surrounding beaches on the weekends. There is never a dull moment!

Why I am a Mormon

I first met a member of the Church eleven months ago while visiting Washington DC on a work assignment. I had never met a member and didn't know much about the church. At this point in my life, I was actively seeking truth and purpose and had experienced a wide range of religious backgrounds. When I opened the Book of Mormon for the first time in January and opened my heart each time with prayer, I read with a fresh mind, broken heart and contrite spirit. I couldn't put it down. It took me eleven days to finish the Book of Mormon, five Sacrament Meetings, six lessons with the Sister Missionaries and a rainbow of highlighters, and I was ready to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was both a personal and blessed decision. From that first day of reading until this day and onward, I know the truth of the gospel and have a strong personal testimony of its ability to administer guidance and blessings when we humble ourselves before Him. I have chosen to live my life in a state of continual service, charity and compassion for mankind. What is so different about this Church? It's a way of life. It's not just a religion or an act of going to a physical building every Sunday, it's a continual effort to progress your character in the short time we have on Earth. It's about building meaningful, eternal relationships. It's about the restoration of the gospel and the Priesthood. It's our living Prophet and the personal concern he has for us. It's about viewing others as Christ would view them. I choose to be Mormon because I know that I'm a daughter of God and that I do have purpose.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church, I am active all week long! I have a calling (prayerfully assigned duty) in my ward as a member of the Missionary Committee and serve as a Ward Missionary. What does that mean? I do for others exactly what they were doing for me a year ago-- I visit investigators of the church to assist in lessons along with our assigned Missionaries, answer questions they may have, reach out to those who may be losing contact with the church, help with baptisms, and the like. I'm active in visiting the other girls (Sisters) in my ward to ensure that their worldly and spiritual needs are being met, participating in community service projects--"adopting" children at Christmastime, planting flowers and clean-up at local schools, food and school supply drives, etc., attending ward activities, gaining greater knowledge of the scriptures at Institute (bible study), visiting the Temple grounds for personal spiritual reflection and anything that comes up in between!
