Hi I'm James

I grew up amongst the mountains of northern Utah. I enjoy rock climbing, reading, and eating bizarre food. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've spent most my life in northern Utah and rather enjoyed the place. A few years ago my older brother introduced me to rock climbing and I've become a big fan. Most of the climbing i do is in a gym but occasionally I climb outside. I also really enjoy good stories and am a big fan of movies with good plots and also classic literature. I haven't quite got as far as collage, but I think I'll either go into science. I love learning about how things work.

Why I am a Mormon

I belong to a long line of Latter-day Saints and was raised by parents active in the church. I'm grateful to them for the knowledge they gave me and the fantastic examples they set. As a youth i too was active in the church and believed it to be true but it wasn't until a few years ago that I really came to know. My testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel continues to be strengthened by time and experience practicing my faith. Looking back i can see a difference in my between times when i was truly active, and when I was just going through the motions of my beliefs. Though told to read the scriptures and pray often, I rarely practiced these things until my junior and senior years in high-school. At the time I didn't realize any difference, but looking back I know there existed a difference in my life. Though the difficulty of my life didn't change... it actually increased those two years... i was a happier person. My testimony has been solidified by the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I have spent a great deal of time studying it and praying about it. The principles of the gospel have brought a light and a peace to my life. I know that God is aware of us all and that he is our loving father. He has restored the fullness of the gospel to the earth again and important knowledge about his plan for us. He still calls prophets and apostles today to guide us through the storms of life. Anyone can know this, as I do, if they will sincerely study and pray about the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

Despite life's many distractions, bumpy roads, and challenges I do my best to keep focused on the things that really matter and the big picture. Attending church each week, studying the scriptures daily, and praying often help me accomplish this. Though I make mistakes daily I constantly make it a goal to become like the Savior in my interactions and service to others. As I strive to live the Gospel, everything else falls into place or at least becomes a bit easier to bare.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Absolutely. Our very church would be lost without the records of the Ancient prophets who testified of Christ in the Old Testament and the record of Christ's ministry in the New Testament. The Bible contains valuable truths that guide us, our families, and all of Gods children. Show more Show less
