Hi I'm John Muir

I am a CPA. I am a husband and father. I live in California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a CPA and have worked in CFO positions for the past twenty years. I graduated from the University of Utah. I am a husband and the father of three children who are all grown, married and out of the house. I love traveling to see my children and grandchildren, of which I have three. I enjoy following college football and attending college football games. One of my favorite hobbies is working in my vegetable garden. I love being outdoors whether it is in my garden or hiking. I took up backpacking two years ago and love to hike the mountains and trails of the Southwestern United States. I am a dedicated youth leader for Boy Scouts of America and have been associated with that organization for many, many years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am a fifth-generation Mormon. While a teenager, I realized that I needed to know for myself whether or not the Mormon Church was true. I did an investigation of it and read the Book of Mormon which is another testament of Jesus Christ. I read it, ponder its teachings and prayed about it. After several days and weeks of study and prayer, the Lord revealed to me through His Spirit that it was His word. God confirmed my previous feelings that Jesus is the Christ, my personal Redeemer and Savior. I also knew for myself that God had restored his church upon this earth in modern times. Because of my convictions and feelings, at the age of 19, I went on a Church mission to Peru for two years to preach the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was an amazing experience to see people change their lives and embrace the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Being a member of the Mormon Church has blessed me throughout my life. It has continued to guide me and to direct me in developing my relationship with my Savior.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is an integral part of my life. My faith and my adherence to the teachings of Jesus blesses me and my family every day. It is great to be part of a congregation that loves the Savior and serves our Heavenly Father by helping one another. I have been a youth leader for several years. It has been a wonderful opportunity to help young men and young women grow up knowing their Savior and serving him. I have been camping with them, performed community service projects with them, shared my love of Jesus with them, organized religious retreats for them and counseled with them. As I have served them, it has deepened my commitment to Christ and my love for him. I love this gospel and how it as blessed my family and me. I cannot imagine my life without being part of this faith and living it every day. I feel very, very blessed.
