Hi I'm Michael

I watch my cats wrestle with each other. The one in the photo here is the current champion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married and absolutely love my wife. We don't have any children (yet). For now the three cats will have to do. I really enjoy being outdoors although it seems that as soon as I'm out of the house, I can't wait to get back home. I love playing guitar and practicing archery. Due to the above mentioned problem however, I mostly find myself playing guitar and rarely shooting any arrows. I tried shooting arrows inside the house once but ended up severely injuring one of my unfortunate guitars. Oooops!! I'm usually pretty smart but have a life-long hobby of doing not-smart things. I'd say it keeps life interesting and helps me to grow and learn.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it helps me to make sense of everything. Life on Earth is rough. Having the gospel and truth in my life really helps to smooth out the rollercoaster ride. Knowing that God has a plan for all of us and that this is all just part of it, makes me happy! I was baptized when I was eighteen. The more I learned and listened from that time forward, the wider my eyes were opened. Prior to joining the church, I went through life just blindly doing whatever, whenever, and not thinking anything of it. Life was good (don't get me wrong) but it was like running a race and not even knowing where the finish line was. Having accepted the gospel into my life has helped me to understand where I came from, where I've been, where I am, and where I'm going. If I'm not in motion, then chances are that I'm not going anywhere. There are so many things in the gospel to help keep me in motion. Sometimes I may slow down or even slam it into reverse but I know that Heavenly Father has provided a plan of salvation and all the tools I need to run the race. The biggest part of this plan is Jesus Christ. Through him only can I keep running and stay on course and I am very glad to know that. I'm so thankful for the missionaries who paired me up with the best three legged race partner ever.

How I live my faith

I wish I had some big amazing story to tell that would motivate, inspire, or even bring some to tears. I don't though. I'm a big believer that mountains are moved one little rock at a time. I try to do little things each day to make someone else's day better. Even a simple smile and a hello makes others feel good and makes me feel good knowing that I helped them to feel good too. One big symbiotic circle of feeling good I guess. Every single idea, principle and concept in the gospel goes back to two simple things: love thy God and love thy neighbor. I try to do these the best I can. I sometimes find myself picking and choosing which "neighbors" I should love but God doesn't pick and choose so why should I.
