Hi I'm Jon Allen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired Army Officer and a former Real Estate Agent, living in South Carolina with my wife of 40 years. We have three daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. I enjoy playing golf and try to play three days a week -- at least two of these three days are spent with my two brothers.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because Heavenly Father prompted a Captain in the US Army to give me a copy of the Book of Mormon. Heavenly Father then allowed me to meet and marry a young woman whose brother was a Mormon. Shortly after she and I were married, she called the Mormon Missionaries from whom we received the lessons, and shortly after completing the lessons, we were baptised. Another reason I am a Mormon is because I read and seriously studied the Book of Mormon and prayed about the things I read as I was asked to do by the missionaries.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the scriptures, attending church, praying and paying my tithe. My faith constantly increases by observing other committed members of the church and the efforts they put into supporting the church and living each and every one of its tenents. The testimonies of these other dedicated church members also increases my faith. I also live my faith by making every effort to fulfill my callings to the best of my ability; to set an example for my children and grandchildren and other friends and family; and to always be honest and good natured in my dealings with others I meet in this journey through life. In other words, to always try to set a good example. I don't always succeed, but I learned as a child, "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. My faith gets stronger as I learn more about Mormon doctrine. This, and all of those things in the paragraph above, link together and helped me come to the realization that Joseph Smith was and is a Prophet, called of God. Because of this I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. Additionally, by working with the Church missionaries and attending the temple as often as I can, I am continuing to increase my testimony that my Lord, Jesus Christ, made the ultimate sacrifice for me.
