Hi I'm Janell

I'm a college graduate, a wife, I love to bake, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love learning. When I'm not at work or at school I love being active; especially playing tennis, soccer, and kayaking. I love quotes and I love watching those mormon messages videos. My current favorite talk is "Brim with Joy" by Neal A. Maxwell - read it! I loooove to bake - I love decorating cakes but hate eating them - I love food and I love trying new things. If there is music on I'm typically dancing. I've been involved with Relay for Life for 9 years and am passionate about helping to find a cure for cancer. I did an internship at Disney World and recently graduated from college with a degree in Hospitality Management. I'd describe myself as an old soul but a child at heart.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the gospel and try to thank Heavenly Father for that daily. I've always known that the gospel is true and that the things I was taught growing up are right but it wasn't until I moved away to college that my testimony was truly tested and tried. It was weakened for a time but I knew where I needed to be and started working towards strengthening my testimony when I realized what a difference I felt without the constant and consistent reminders of my purpose in this life that I got from being at church. The friends from church that I surrounded myself with helped strengthen my testimony of the little habits that help us all be more Christ-like and personal study and institute classes are what confirmed my knowledge of gospel principles and doctrine. A lot of times I wonder how I would get along in life not being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - I know that no matter where I go in the world I will have brothers and sisters who share the same beliefs and moral standards. I'm blessed to have knowledge of the gospel and be able to view things with an eternal perspective. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a beautiful thing - the gift of the Atonement is for all of us and the knowledge that families can be together forever is a promise from a loving Heavenly Father. The peace and comfort felt within and around the temples are an affirmation of the truthfulness of the gospel and an example of Heavenly Father's love for His children. "The Lord’s tender mercies are the very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindnesses, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receive from and because of and through the Lord Jesus Christ" (-David A. Bednar) & are what continually remind me of the truth of His gospel.

How I live my faith

I have a long history of community service and have served with organizations such as The American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, Kids Incorporated, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I serve as the Relief Society President in my ward. ("Relief Society prepares women for the blessings of eternal life by helping them increase their faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and homes, and help those in need. Relief Society accomplishes these purposes through Sunday gospel instruction, other Relief Society meetings, visiting teaching, and welfare and compassionate service.") (Visiting teaching is one way the members of the Relief Society build caring relationships with each sister and offer support, comfort, and friendship.) In trying to live a life in acquisition of spiritual qualities, I have learned that life is too short to be upset about things. I try to live each day so that my interactions with those around me are filled with kindness and positivity. One of the best ways, for me, to live my faith is by doing my best to be loving and compassionate towards others.
