Hi I'm Kami

I wasn't born in Texas, but got here as fast as I could. I play tennis, swim, love being at the beach and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family. My favorite times are with them, especially when we're just sitting around the kitchen, talking (eating) and laughing, telling stories, sharing fun (and funny) memories. My husband and I have been married for over 30 years and have 4 children, 2 children-in-law, and 4 grandchildren. I was blessed to be able to be a stay-at-home mom and feel it is the most important job I ever could have done. I've played tennis most of my life and enjoy competing in several tennis leagues. I also love anything to do with water and have taught hundreds of local children (and some adults) how to swim and love the water as I do.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active Mormon family therefore I was raised as a Mormon. When I was 5, my family visited relatives near Palmyra, New York and we took the side-trip to visit the "Sacred Grove". Even at such a young age, I was able to feel the special spirit of that location and I knew the vision Joseph Smith claimed to have seen did indeed happen there. From that experience, I have always had a testimony of Joseph Smith's divine calling as a prophet of God and the man whom God called to restore the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ in these latter days. That testimony has given me the strength to endure any questions I may have had as I got older. The simple truth is if Joseph Smith was a prophet, the Book of Mormon is true, and everything else regarding the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is also true, including the fact that we have a living prophet today to lead and guide us. The flip side is that if the Book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith was a prophet and everything else regarding the Church is also true, etc. I have read the Book of Mormon and taken Moroni's challenge (Moroni 10:3-5) to pray to know it is true. I received an answer and know for myself the Book of Mormon is true. No doubts. I know Heavenly Father will answer anyone's honest and sincere inquiry about that book. I am so grateful to have the knowledge of the restored gospel and the guidance that we are given through living prophets. I could not have raised my children as well or as confidently without the standards of the church. I would not have the peaceful and trusting marriage I have without the covenants of the temple. I would not have the "peace that surpasseth all understanding" that my knowledge of the Plan of Salvation, the purpose of our existence and the reality of our eternal nature give to me, even during times of extreme trials. I know I am a child of God. I have a divine purpose, an eternal destiny, and a Heavenly Father who loves me.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith daily. I firmly believe the saying "If you want to talk to God, pray; if you want God to talk to you, read your scriptures" so I try to do both every day. I hope the people I am in contact with daily can tell I worship and follow Christ. I try to be kind. I try to be non-judgmental. I try to be slow-to-anger and quick to do good. Currently I serve in my church as a leader and counselor of teenage girls, specifically those age 14 and 15. I also visit several people on a monthly basis, leaving them with a spiritual message and seeing to any of their needs. My husband and I are very active in the youth programs of our area and have many activities at our home including cub scout day camps, youth retreats and dances (including the now-famous giant slip-n-slide), swim parties, etc. We have always wanted to share out home with others, hoping to share with them the special spirit of love and peace we've been so blessed to have within our family and home. Our home is a "safe place": no bad movies, no bad music, no bad language. To me (and I hope to others) it truly is a heaven on earth.
