Hi I'm Dan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a happily married man for about 37 years to the same wife. We have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. Our 3 sons live in the area, and our 2 daughters live in Iowa and Kansas. We talk regularly to them. I like to eat ( I'm on a see food diet), run (I have done the Bolder Boulder 10k for several years, ran a half marathon and several other 5k and 4 mile races) , relax, and spend time with my wife and family. We go camping, go for drives to places we used to live and reminisce. I like music from the 60's and 70's and share a common interest with my wife in classic country music.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I like the teachings of the church about Jesus Christ, His life and ministry, I like reading the scriptures, both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and studying them to learn more about Our Savior and how He has taught other of His children in different times and places. I like associating with other Christians who share common interests and enjoy discussing Gospel topics. I like the way the Church is organized with Prophets, Apostles, Seventies and Bishops. I like the way the church is divided into wards so that I attend church with my neighbors.

How I live my faith

I attend church regularly, read and study the scriptures regularly, fulfill assignments from church leaders, and visit and help those in need as those need arise. I have worked in the Boy Scouting program for many years and continue to enjoy it. I like the values that scouting instill in our young men to help them become the fathers and leaders of our country tomorrow.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

As I mentioned earlier in my profile, I enjoy attending church with my neighbors. The church is divided geographically into wards or branches to ensure that this happens. A ward is directed by a Bishop (the branch has a Branch President for smaller congregations) and he has 2 counselors who assist him in his duties to watch over the ward (or Branch). There are several organizations in the ward that focus on different age groups and genders. Several wards and branches comprise a stake, another geographic area, and is presided over by a Stake President and his 2 counselors along with other leaders to help the Stake President in his duties. All of the leaders are not paid for the services they render to church members so it is necessary to have regular employment to support their families. Show more Show less
