Hi I'm Carter

I love to play any sport, I'm a cancer survivor, and I'm a mormon

About Me

I was born in Provo, Utah in the 90's and moved to the Salt Lake City area before my first birthday. I was born with Jaundice and spent the first few months of my life sleeping under a special light to get rid of it. I was a regular toddler for the next few years but then when i was 4 years old I was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), which is a type of cancer that attacks the blood in the body, on June 26, 2000; I was infected throughout my whole body. I battled against the cancer for the next 3 years when finally it had left my body when I was 7 years old on August 21, 2003. I still had check-ups to do but I was finally done. I was baptized when I was 8 years old by my dad. I received the Aaronic Priesthood when I was 12 years old and became a deacon in the church. I turned 14 and became a teacher and my duties expanded and I loved doing things at church. I recently turned 16 and I have been ordained a priest and so far every week I've blessed the sacrament. My favorite sport is football and after that is basketball. I love to go out with my friends and just shoot some hoops or even play a small 7 on 7 game of football. In scouts we do a wide variety of sports and even if I've never played it before I just do the best I can and I always have fun. I'm a hard worker who's always willing to help. I volunteer for anything I can and when I do I give my full effort so that the job can be done right the first time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My parents have been Mormons their whole lives too and both sides of my family tree go back pretty far and almost all of them since Joseph Smith have been Mormons their whole lives too. I enjoy being a Mormon because it gives me something to work towards; it gives me goals to achieve and it always keeps me on check to do the right thing even when it's hard. I hope to serve a mission when I'm older and then continue to be an example to all my friends around me.

How I live my faith

I am always volunteering to participate in any church activity. I am reverent when it's appropriate and I have a lot of fun at the right time and I can recognize those moments. I love to bless the sacrament. I like to help prepare the sacrament and then bless it too. Some times I even pass the sacrament just so I can be as involved as I can be. I'm always going out and doing Fast Offerings even though a lot of people don't like to do that as much as other things. I read my scriptures and pray daily so that I can stay close Heavenly Father.
