Hi I'm Marja.

I am a wife, a mom, a math tutor & substitute teacher. I love dancing classical ballet, photography ... I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life and learning… being a mom, being a wife. I love my international family and friends in Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, Norway, The Netherlands, and the U.S.A. I love classical music, dancing classical ballet, design, nature, photography, singing along to Disney musicals, watching Disney animation and science-fiction. I love mathematics especially algebra, calculus, differential equations and fluid dynamics. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and all that it entails, like partaking of the sacrament weekly, attending Sunday School, Relief Society (the women’s organization), and the Temple, researching my family history and helping others to do the same, studying the gospel of Jesus Christ (sometimes for hours), singing of Him in the choir, serving His children as best I can. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church as a young adult, after a friend at university shared his knowledge of the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and I have never looked back. As I studied the Book of Mormon (Another Testament of Jesus Christ) and I prayed about it for myself, I received a warm and powerful witness from the Holy Spirit that these teachings are the teachings of Jesus Christ. What a great blessing! To me the Book of Mormon is a gift. It clarifies and sheds light on the truths that I study in the Bible and expands my understanding of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I receive a witness of its truthfulness again and again. I also receive personal revelation to help me in my life. As I studied and prayed I also received a witness that Joseph Smith was the first prophet called of God to restore the fullness of his Gospel in these the latter days. We are also blessed to have a prophet on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson, who receives inspiration from Jesus Christ to lead and direct His church, just as the apostle Peter. One of the greatest blessings of the restoration of the fullness of the gospel is temple marriage where families can be sealed together forever never to be separated. This blessing can be ours as we strive to be worthy.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ and the gift of the Holy Ghost influence me every day. I try to be kind, honest, diligent, conscientious, and loving. I fall short often, but I trust in my Savior to help me as I seek to change and improve. As a family, we have daily family prayer and scripture study and try to have weekly Family Home Evenings in which we study about the gospel and have fun together as a family. In addition, to attending church weekly, attending the Temple, doing family history research and teaching in Primary, the children's organization, I visit four lovely women, along with a companion and try to cheer and bless them with a message and a hug and help in any way they may need. Until recently, I was also the Gospel Doctrine Sunday School class president, which is fancy way of saying that I welcome everyone, especially those who are visiting and invite people to offer an opening and closing prayer.
