Hi I'm Kelsey Elizabeth

I'm from Pennsylvania and California. I love to sing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished serving a mission for the Church in Utah and Seattle, Washington and will soon be continuing my studies in psychology and music at Brigham Young University. I think I would like to be some sort of counselor. I'm not quite sure exactly for whom yet. I have moved many times, 6 that I can remember before I went to college, usually we moved across the country, so I get antsey after being in one place too long. I love meeting new people and learning about them. I love learning new languages. I am learning French and Spanish and I love getting to use them. I love music. I love singing most of all. My family all loves to make music together. I love reading novels and learning about most things. I am grateful for the incredible blessings that are a part of my life. I have a wonderful family who enjoys spending time together.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been blessed to be a member of the Church since I chose to be baptized at the age of 8. I cannot really remember when I didn't have a testimony that the Church was true. I can remember, however, many experiences when I have had that knowledge confirmed. Each of those experiences involved whisperings of the Holy Ghost. Usually quiet thoughts come to my mind telling me that the things I have told someone about Jesus Christ or His Church are true and good. My faith has been tried. Especially on my mission I met many people who tried to convince me that I was somehow diluded, but I know that is not the case. To those who have an open heart, I will declare that I know that this is the Church of Jesus Christ. It is the same church that the Savior Himself set up on the earth at the time of His earthly ministry. He loves each human soul. His ultimate expression of love for us took the form of his perfect life, his suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, his crucifixion, and his resurrection. I know that because of these things our return to live with our Heavenly Father is possible. We can repent and be resurrected. So many of these truths I know because of the Book of Mormon/Le livre de Mormon/El Libro de Mormon. I know that this Book is of God. I invite all who read this testimony to read the Book of Mormon and to find out these truths for themselves. It is the only way to know. Read it and pray.

How I live my faith

Right now I have the opportunity to help in a committee in my young single adult congregation, or ward, to organize weekly events during the week. Also, since I just returned from serving as a full-time missionary for the Church, I have the opportunity to speak in many of the local congregations on Sundays about sharing about Christ and my mission experience. I get to sing in the choir with other volunteer members of the Church. Recently I have also had the opportunity to help cleaning the local church buildings. My family and I have gotten to serve in the local soup kitchen sorting canned goods too. Our local stake, or group of congregations also just finished a canned food drive for the food bank. Many of our neighbors helped by donating food. What a beautiful sight, to see others willing to sacrifice for those in need! My mother, sister, and I got to chaperone my little sister's choir festival the other week too. It was wonderful. As a missionary I got to teach people every day about Jesus Christ and His church. I love teaching about that. I got to substitute teaching a missionary preparation class recently. Also, I have the opportunity to go to the local Temple and perform work on behalf of deceased ancestors of members of the Church. The Temple is such a peaceful place. Once a month, we are able to fast(go without food for 2 meals/24 hours) and donate the money we would have spent on food to the hungry. This is sometimes a challenge for me, because I love food so much, but I am grateful for the blessings I receive and the opportunity to help others. I love that God wants us all to serve others. We all are refined and we grow as we serve each other. It is for ours and others' benefit. Being a member of Christ's church is a way of life. I don't really feel like it is separate from my other activities. It is who I am and who I try to be.
