Hi I'm Erick

I love to run, backpack and spend time with my family. I work in the Information Technology business. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I very much enjoy spending time outdoors running and backpacking, especially with family. I am very happily married and together we are the proud parents of four beautiful children. I'm an electrical engineering graduate and work as an engineering manager for a large global organization that provides Information Technology services. I also spent two years in a volunteer position serving as a missionary in the Canary Islands where I shared the gospel of Jesus Christ, became fluent in Spanish, experienced an amazing culture, and met many wonderful people. I also like to read, experiment with the latest technologies (Kindle, Tablets, etc) and discuss interestingly philosophical topics with friends and family. I come from a large family where I learned the value of hard work and the importance of creating deep, lasting relationships with family and friends. I try to emphasize these same lessons with my children and hope I share my values to others in the future.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I want to improve the way I follow the Savior Jesus Christ. I want to be a better person, and continually grow closer to what the Savior would want me to do so I can be an instrument in his hands helping others experience true joy. I'm a Mormon because the principles in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have taught me how to really and truly get the most out of life, reach my fullest joy, and learn how to love others as Jesus loves all of us. I'm a Mormon because the doctrines and principles about Jesus Christ have taught me that only through our Savior Jesus Christ and his grace can we be saved and return to his presence. I was born and raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but I have come to know of myself that this is the restored gospel and church of Jesus Christ on the earth today, and that because of this restoration of truth, we have a living prophet today and another testament of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon. I have learned from experience, both good and bad, that living the truths and principles centered around the true gospel of Jesus Christ I have been able to have a fullness of joy and live the most complete life possible.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do what Jesus would do and say what Jesus would say. Through the grace of Jesus Christ I am continually trying to improve who I am, what I do, and what the Savior can do to me in creating a new person every day. I strive to live so that others will see who I am and want to be more like the Savior. Living as the Savior did is a very difficult thing, but something that brings great joy as I feel the grace and strength of the Savior bless my life to do more and be more. In my church I currently am a bishop. The bishop is roughly equivalent to the pastor in other Christian churches. I serve in this capacity as a volunteer, as does every other member of our church that serves in other capacities. In my capacity as a bishop and with the help of many other members of the church, I organize church services, help other members of the church grow Spiritually, assist in temporal matters as required and generally help the congregation develop and maintain a personal relationship with their Savior Jesus Christ so that they can also share that same joy and comfort we experience with others.
