Hi I'm Matthew

I'm a college student. Going to school to become a medical doctor. I grew up all over the United States.

About Me

I am currently attending school to become a medical doctor. My major is psychology with a minor in Chemistry. When I have the time to take a break from school I love to rock climbing the feeling of the rocks under my hands or the exhilaration of repelling down a rock face. The challenge of trying something new. I love it, every time I do it I learn something new or can make it up a harder rock face. I honestly just love being in the out doors. I love the smell pine as the wind breezes through a canyon. The smell of morning dew when I wake up to the sun shinning on my face. I love the peace I feel when I am in nature. Even when standing under a raging waterfall, things still seem peaceful. Compared to the hustle and bustle of every day life. Its nice to just sit and enjoy the marvels of the wonderful Earth the Lord has provided for his children.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't born into the Church, but I was exposed to it since I was born. My mother didn't start going to church again until I was four. She started going again after my father pass away. The strength and love that the Church gave our family really kept us going in those first months after his death. As I grew up in the Church I accepted the teaching because I knew nothing else and I had been in it for such a long time. I have always had a testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ and I have always known that he loves me. There came a time, when I didn't want to simply believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was true because the things in it made logical sense. I wanted to have a manifestation of the Spirit confirmation to tell me the things that I had been taught my whole life were true. So during my Sophomore year of high school I decided to read the Book of Mormon cover to cover. I can tell you, that book is true. Every page in that book is the Word of God. The Book of Mormon is a support to the Bible. I know this for after I read the Book of Mormon I have read the Bible as well. As the Bible is the Word of God, so far as it is translated correctly, so is the Book of Mormon the Word of God. The spirit has born a personal witness to me that this is the true church. I am a Mormon, because I know the Book of Mormon is true. The times in my life when I was not following the teachings that are in it, are the times that were most difficult.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as the Ward Mission Leader. I have the wonderful opportunity of organizing in the wards mission effort. How the members do their own missionary work is up to them, but I have the responsibility to help them in anyway that I can. This is my favorite calling aside from being an actual missionary. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and sharing it with others. The things we can learn from the teachings of Christ are incredible and I want everyone to be able to have the opportunity to hear the good message. And I love this calling because it helps encourage me to share what I know to be true. As well as to help others share what they know or believe to be true.
