Hi I'm Ryan

I love penguins, am proud of it, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recently returned missionary. I love to study both the gospel and really anything else. I love learning. I have gone to college for a computer science degree and may go into that field after my mission. I also have thought about teaching seminary. I want to continue learning about the gospel and opening new windows of revelation through my study of languages including Greek and Hebrew and also Jewish culture. I want to learn all I can about God's plan for me here on Earth and also more about His character. Some of my other interests include film making and editing, computer programming, gaming, sword fighting, role playing, learning, and just being with people. I love learning about people and how they work and even learning more about myself, still haven't quite figured me out yet.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon first of all because I was blessed enough to be raised in a family that taught me the scriptures and helped me learn and develop faith. However, even as I was growing up my mother will attest that I was the worse kid she has ever taught in primary. I thought even when I was young that "feeling the spirit" was just for a bunch of fruit cakes. After I received the priesthood at 12 I really began to learn about the Gospel. I felt a maturity and seriousness about the priesthood and began to listen to my teacher Brother Vanburen. I learned that God answers prayers not by a loud or harsh voice but by a "still small voice". I also learned that it didn't matter if I thought they should retranslate the scriptures into modern English, God didn't want in that way, He wanted us to learn His language. I learned that More important than anything else was God. When we put God first everything falls into its place. Because of that I learned that the Gospel and church was supposed to come first. As I grew older I made it my object to keep an open mind to other religions, I didn't want to be a blind follower. There came a point in my life however that I was backed up to a wall of faith and had a choice to make. Would I put off going on a mission because of my doubts, or would I have faith that I would get an answer to my prayers and go? It was a hard decision. I thought of my past experiences in the church, I knew they were good and I knew they were of God. I chose to go. What has followed has been the best years of my life. As I made the mental choice that I would choose to believe in the church and it's teachings I felt overcome by a spirit of peace, joy, and warmth. I recognized it as the Holy Ghost testifying to me that the choice I made was pleasing to God. From that moment on I have never looked back. I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that This church belongs and was founded by Jesus Christ the son of God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow the example of Christ, I am not perfect, in fact I'm pretty bad at it, but it is my goal. I try and simply do what I think the savior would have me do by speaking kind words to others or whatever else is needed.
