Hi I'm Devan

I love to play sports, work hard, and have fun and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am child 6 of 7, love kids, love to and have been shooting a basketball or kicking a soccer ball as long as I can remember. I love to run for fun, play ultimate frisbee, and play a great match of tennis. I enjoy watching Brigham Young University football and I am attending Utah State University studying accounting.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Christ's church and have been going since day one. I thought I had a good footing of my own until I got to the last part of my high school years and fear hit me in the face and I had no clue what happened. I began attending the university and my fears grew even more. I had a goal to serve a full time mission, but I wasn't sure if that was really what I should do or if there even was a god. What I had been taught all made sense so I continued to follow my parents and their beliefs. This helped but I still wasn't 100% sure of really anything. One of the biggest events in my trial was when I heard a talk by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the 12 which is titled "Safety for the Soul" and it has changed my life forever. Elder Holland spoke about how "men's hearts shall fail them" in the last days and that really hit me because I felt like my heart was failing me. I kept reading and he spoke of a way to keep this from happening. He taught of the Book of Mormon and of the power that is within those pages. He promised the peace that comes as we read and apply the words of this book. I took this challenge and began to read the Book of Mormon more diligently than ever. As I did this, the fear began to lift from my mind and the fog that covered my mind began to lift. This changed my life and continues to do so. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true and I know this because the Book of Mormon is true. I am a Mormon because I have felt the love that Heavenly Father has for me and I want to share that feeling with all I can. The peace that we all search for is found by studying and applying the teachings taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Today I live my faith by being the best example that I can be. In my community I enjoy doing services for people in need and and entertaining children. In my ward (local congregation) I am a teacher in a class for the men. I try to talk to people while on campus and participate in my college religion class.
