Hi I'm Ross

I grew up in lovely northern Nevada, I play soccer, like to snorkel, and enjoy time with the fam, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I have never lacked an example in my life with 10 older siblings. While growing up I tried to keep up with everyone in my home and developed a love for family life and for playing sports with everyone. Over the years my athletic efforts have been damaged by multiple knee surgeries, but those injuries have also inspired me to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy. Regardless of what my time demands, I always love to get back to spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

After searching for an answer about whether this church I have gone to my whole life was true, I felt an overwhelming peace (the spirit of God) that it is in fact true. I felt God's love and I continue to feel that love as I continue to live the teachings of what I believe is Christ's church on the earth. The Book of Mormon is very important to me being Mormon as well. There have been many times that I questioned something or was just tempted to give up this path. But in order for me to forsake the many witnesses I have received, I feel that I'd have to get by the Book of Mormon, and I don't feel that I could ever do that because it is the true word of God and truly does bring any who are willing to open it, closer to Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to live like Christ did and heed His call to follow Him. I also seek to share with others my faith and how I have come to know Him more fully. He provides each of us chances to serve others and love others and I simply try to recognize those opportunities and act on them.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Ross
The scriptures teach us that all men must be baptized. And we further learn that we must be baptized as Jesus Christ was, which includes being baptized by immersion, and by the proper priesthood authority. Many people have come to this earth having never had that chance, so God has provided a way for them to be baptized, and that is through baptisms in the temple, which is the only place that God has declared that such ordinances can be done. People today may scare from this idea of proxy baptisms, but a modern day Apostle said of proxy temple work, that the Atonement of Jesus Christ was the greatest proxy work ever done. Therefore it only makes sense that proxy work would continue today, and what a blessing it is to play some small part of it. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Ross
The Atonement is the suffering, death, and Resurrection that Christ went through for us. He suffered that we would not have to bear the full weight and consequences of our sins. Because He died and was resurrected, we will all have the same blessing, that of being resurrected. All that He performed and went through was for us. At the last day, when we are judged, it is only through Jesus Christ's Atonement that we can be clean and worthy to live with Him and our Heavenly Father forever, dependent on our obedience to His gospel.
