Hi I'm Lauri

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of 3 grown children and Grandma to my 3 year old granddaughter. Married to a wonderful man of 11 years. I worked as a heavy equipment operator for about 13 years. My husband and I owned a NASCAR race team and I raced NASCAR for almost 5 years. Our family rides motorcycles on and off road. We enjoy camping and anything outdoors. I medically retired last year. My past is colorful but I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m a recent convert from being born and raised in a Roman Catholic family. My Grandmother was born and raised a Mormon and I intend to follow in her footsteps even though in order to be married to my Grandfather, she had to convert to Catholic. I know that when my Grandmother’s children got older, she went back to the LDS church. I also grew up with my best friend next door who was also a Mormon. We have known each other since we were 3. We currently own 40 acres together and live next door to each other like we said we would do when we were kids. How I came to the LDS church is via my son who played football and the families I met there. One of the families that I knew, we have known since my son was in Jr. high school. By the time our sons were playing in High School we got to know each other very well. I was invited to attend church one day by a football family member and haven’t left the church sense.

Why I am a Mormon

Personal Testimony - BAPTISM SPEECH Thank you for coming. Its been a wonderful journey coming to this faith. I believe in everything I have been taught and everything I have left to learn. Im looking forward to my confirmation tomorrow & receiving the Holy Ghost. I think by doing that, I will forever be a changed person; loving our Heavenly Father, being filled with the Holy Spirit and of course being with the big his son, Jesus Christ) People who know me close have been shaking their heads, and Im sure they are asking themselves why is she doing this. So I will tell you… Ive been very lost, angry and lonely for a long time. I am no longer there. I have found hope. I have found love. And I know where I am going. That’s it! I am still the same person inside. Im still up front, kinda crazy, and “out there” but in my heart of hearts I do for others, love one another and believe that there is a God… Heavenly Father. As I stand here today, before you & before God, I know the truths and I believe…… Before I close, I want to thank some of the people that helped bring me here. Thank you Grandma for telling about being a Mormon. It got me to wonder. My best friend, herself a Mormon. She has been my best friend since I was 4 and has encouraged me every step of the way. The football family for inviting me into their lives and to this church. For without their love and support, I wouldn’t be here today. Thanks especially to Dave for performing the baptism. It was the greatest honor I could ever have. The full time Elders for getting me to this point. To my Family: Jack who is part of my family, not by marriage or blood but by football who prays with my son before games for you Jack have influenced Tony in the quest to find his God. And finally my husband who even though chooses no religion at all, he supports me in mine. Thank you all for coming & I say these things in the name our your son Jesus Christ.. Amen

How I live my faith

I am such a new convert that I dont have a calling yet but Im sure my Bishop is praying. Im a complicated member having to deal with a disability but it wont stop me from my calling whatever it may be. I live my faith as pure and as close to Heavenly Father as possible. Even though my family is not LDS, I continue to be a good roll model for them in hopes they can see the truth in this faith.
