Hi I'm Joseph Richley Hirt

I was born and raised in Alaska. I love my family. Life looks pretty good. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a normal guy. I simply love good company with anything to do. It's all about who you're with rather than so much about what or where. I learned that through many experiences in my life - growing up in the small town of Barrow and attending a small university in the boonies of South Dakota. I love sports, the outdoors, and being active. Music plays a huge role in my life. Nothing beats a good song while driving in the car. I am the youngest of 10 children. My siblings are my best friends. To my parents I am forever grateful. And that's me in a nutshell.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because I've been raised that way and my testimony of the truthfulness of our religion has only been strengthened through my own personal experiences and choices, good and bad. Everyone must find the truth for themselves. I've had plenty of help from great parents, church leaders, friends, and family, but I can say that I personally know that this church is true. How? I have received answers to my prayers from my loving, Heavenly Father. My advice to anyone looking for the same truth would be to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. Simple enough right? Why would God make it confusing? He wouldn't.

How I live my faith

I have recently come home from a two year mission for our church. I served in the countries of Moldova and Ukraine. I lived my faith by sharing what we believe with those who wanted to hear it. It stretched me to my limits. I, as a representative of Jesus Christ, strove to love those that even rejected us. It was not easy, and I strove to improve up to the very last day. Although it wasn't a stroll in the park for two years, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. To go was the best decision I have ever made. Now at home I strive to be an example to others. One of my favorite quotes that hangs on my parents' refrigerator says, "Live in such a way that those who don't know Christ but know you will want to know Christ because they know you." None of us are perfect. I'm far from it, but I strive to improve, and Christ is the example I look to. All we have to ask ourselves is, "Would I think it, would I say it, or would I do it knowing He is there?" Because He is there. We too often forget that.
