Hi I'm Martin

I'm a swede living in Norway. I study economics, work as a fitness instructor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a swede living in Norway. The reason I moved here is called Rikke. She's my queen, my little angel and my greatest joy. We got married in June 2010, and allthough we have our differences from time to time, it's been the best (almost) two years of my life so far and it's only getting better! Right now I'm in school, studying business administration while working extra as a fitness instructor. I enjoy motivating people to reach goals they did'nt think were possible and it's a great feeling being able to give something to others that brings them joy and a better health. I served a full time mission to Greece, which was the best two years for my life. I have a special love for the greek people and I've visited the country each summer since I got back. If I was to describe myself in one sentence it would probably be: "An ambitious opportunist that loves life". That sounded really cheesy.. sorry! But it's actually true - I love living, it's the greatest thing! (Don't get me wrong, I DO have bad days, and I enjoy sitting around doing nothing from time to time). Things I also enjoy are skiing, wakeboarding, working out, pretend to be handy with the house, travel and of course to spend time with my wife and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but that doesn't mean that I got anything for free. In my Swedish hometown I was the only one among all my friends who belonged to the church. As I got older I tried the concept of walking with one foot in the church and the other "in the world", meaning that I tried to combine a wordly lifestyle at the same time I went to church on sundays. I soon realized that this would be impossible, I had to choose which side I wanted to belong to. I chosed Gods side. The reason for my decision was something that came from within. All the things "the world" offered only led to emptiness, and at it´s best momentarly fun, while the peace and happiness generated from a Christ centered life is of lasting nature. It makes you wanna do better, it makes you apprechiate the little things in life, and it makes you truly happy. Looking back, that choice to "leave the world behind" turned out to be the biggest, most important decision I've ever made in my life.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the church is not something I do only on Sundays when I go to church. To me living my faith is more of a constant search for improvement. Everyday I struggle to overcome my many weaknessess and imperfections, while doing so I can truly feel how God is helping me and blessing me with happiness and peace. Even though I fail constantly, I try my best to be kind and helpful to everyone around me. Reading the Book of Mormon together with sincere prayer daily gives me the strength and a good warm feeling in my hart through out the day that makes it possible to find joy and peace in everyday life and to simply put "be the best I can be".

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

To me, The Holy Ghost is what makes it fun being a member of the church. It's all pretty simple actually; "If we do good, we'll feel good". That's exactly how The Holy Ghost works, by trying our best to follow the example and teachings of our redeemer Jesus Christ, we will feel an increased love, peace and a greater happiness in our lives than we ever thought was possible. I would say that next to Jesus Christ, The Holy Ghost is most central in the great plan that God has for us. It helps us become better persons by slowly terminating the desire to do evil. By the gift and power of The Holy Ghost, we recieve help in our life, comfort, encouragement and strenght to keep on going even in the thoughest of times. It also provides the sweetest joy. The problem is that we need to earn the companionship of The Holy Ghost - something we do by trying our best to follow the example of Jesus. The desire to feel the influence of The Holy Ghost every day, is what keeps me trying to do good. The influence of The Holy Ghost is also what makes me wanna be a better husband and a kinder person.
