Hi I'm Anna

I'm still figuring out everything about who I am, but one thing I know is that I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I never know what to say in these things. Everyone is so much more complex than 1500 characters can explain, but I'll try. I'm Anna. I'm currently a college student at BYU in Provo and I love it here. I love making friends and playing piano and listening to music and learning new things. I'm a Psychology major and I hope to get my Master's in Social Work someday. Basically, I just love being alive!

Why I am a Mormon

For a long time, I struggled with my testimony. One day, in a discussion with my dad, he told me that he knew the church was true because it works - it brings true happiness. It took some hard experiences and lots of pondering to finally realize that he was right. I've seen that my friends who follow the standards of the church (whether or not they are members) tend to be happier than those who do not. I've seen in my own life that I'm happier when I strive to be close to Heavenly Father and follow His commandments. I know that Heavenly Father wants what's best for each and every one of us. It's simply up to us to follow Him.

How I live my faith

I try to serve everyone that I can. That seems to me to be the most Christlike thing one can do. In high school, I spent an hour every Sunday at a nursing home. That was such a rewarding experience. I learned from the elderly people I interacted with and I grew very close to the other youth I went with. I also taught piano to a mentally handicapped girl, which was very rewarding. She taught me more than I ever could have taught her. In college, it's been more difficult to find time to serve. However, I try to participate in the service activities that BYU provides whenever I can.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

I believe that if people realized how harmful pornography is to their relationships and to them personally that they wouldn't want that at all. I also think that a greater respect for women would decrease the use of pornography. Too much emphasis is put on how a woman looks and how attractive her body is. What's inside matters much more. What is the Relief Society?

Relief Society is amazing. It was organized so that the women of the church could come together and help each other. I have found that Relief Society is, in some ways, more beneficial than Sunday School, where the genders are mixed. As women, we can connect a lot more and understand each other. Also, in student wards, it's nice to not have the girls all worrying about what the boys think of them for one hour a week since there are no boys in there. We all work together to better each other and it's absolutely fantastic. Show more Show less
