Hi I'm Rick

I'm the father of 6, a commercial pilot, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love flying, sports, music, and spending quality time with my kids and grandkids. I got my private pilot license at Provo Aviation, graduated from BYU, obtained my advanced pilot licenses and instructor ratings in Santa Monica and went on to become the senior pilot and station manager at a new startup airline in Orange County. For the past few decades I have been the company pilot and general manager of diversified privately held company with interests in home building and property management in southern California, and commercial citrus operations in the central valley of California. One of my hobbies is cooking hamburgers. Like a popular fast food restaurant, it seems like I have served millions and millions over the years. I love to serve and was recognized recently in scouting with the Silver Beaver award.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always loved my family and was taught good principles from a very young age. My best friend and I chose to be baptized at a young age by my older brother because we loved the programs the Church offered young people. We loved scouting and all of the wholesome activites. We were avid sports enthusiasts and the Church encouraged keeping our bodies healthy so we could excel. Sports played a major role in my life and also in my brother's life. As we grew older, sports and music drew my brother away from the Church, but they had the opposite affect on me. I had some special experiences both in music and on the basketball court that led me to make commitments to live a better life and to serve a mission for the Church, which I did in Australia. That mission enabled me to see all kinds of people in all kinds of situations. Through my service to them, I saw what I really wanted in life. I found the girl of my dreams upon my return to BYU and we now have 6 wonderful children and 6 grandchildren with 2 on the way. Every member of our family has graduated from BYU, or is currently enrolled. All our boys have also served missions and have learned, like their father did how precious and life changing the gospel of Jesus Christ is.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving. I have served hundreds of young men over the years and help mold their character through scouting and other meaningful service projects. I have been with them for the past 24 years in a row in the high sierras, on lakes, rivers, deserts on a variety of high adventure activities. We have been in boats, planes, buses, trains, river rafts, inner tubes, vans, cars, and bikes all seeking adventure and learning the lessons of life. I currently attend the temple weekly, cook hamburgers regularly for large events at Church, manage the technical aspects of the stake internet/audio visual resources and serve as the Stake Clerk.
