Hi I'm Margie

I was born in Portland, Oregon and I have lived in the Portland metropolitan area all of my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother to two teenagers. My son is 18 years old and my daughter is 15. I have been going back to school to prepare for employment when my daughter graduates from high school. I enjoy gardening, exercising, and learning new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I was mostly raised in the church and knew all about Joseph Smith and all of the other teachings of the gospel. When I was 17 and reactivating myself after several years of inactivity I decided that I needed to read the Book of Mormon and receive a testimony. I prayed to have a belief in the church and its truth. One day I read in Alma 32:18; "Now I ask, is this faith? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for if a man knoweth a thing he hath no cause to believe, for he knoweth it." Immediately, as I read this, the Holy Ghost confirmed to me that I already knew the church was true and I didn't need to ask for a belief. Memories from my past came into my mind. There were many occasions when the Holy Ghost had witnessed to me as a child that the things I was learning at church were true. I have never doubted my testimony since then.

How I live my faith

I was recently released as the secretary in the Young Women's program after 7 1/2 years. I was called to be a ward missionary and I'm learning all about how to do that now. As a visiting teacher, each month I see three sisters in our ward. I like the uplifting conversations and opportunities to share our testimonies and experiences together. One of the greatest strengths for me over the past few years has been reading a conference talk every day. These are messages given by leaders in the church at conferences held twice yearly. I also enjoy attending the temple regularly.
