Hi I'm "OT"

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married (29 years) to my childhood sweetheart. I work for the CHP in Sacramento as the Office Supervisor for the Personnel File Section and love the job. I get the chance to make some positive changes. I have two Associate Degrees (A.A.), one in Corrections and one in Law Enforcement, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management (B.S.) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree. I am the vice chair of Planning Commission in my city and love the job with aspirations of joining the city council in the future. I ride a 2004 Harley Davidson Electra Glide and next riding season plan on doing a few rides with the Temple riders out of Sacramento

Why I am a Mormon

I use to attend meetings with four members of the church. During these meetings, non-members would use language that mortified me. I knew co-workers were members of the LDS church as everyone did, so I kept my language clean, out of respect. The behavior I noticed from the LDS members of the church was they never wavered or ask them not to use offensive language, even when the non-members made jokes about being in the "Mormon clan" and that was why good things were happening to them, the members went along and made jokes themselves about not knowing the Mormon handshake and they could join the club too if they wanted good things to happen to them, thereby taking the power away from the non-members. I began asking my coworker why people did not like Mormons; He really didn't know, why but did offer some suggestions. I knew my personal reasons at the time and I began asking others their reasons including coworkers. I would ask my coworker questions about the Mormon church and he would answer my questions and then end each one with I can send the missionaries to your home if you want; I always advised no thank you, I am not there yet. Finally I began reading the book of Mormon and studying with my coworker Mark. Each morning I could not wait for him to get to work so I could go to his office and talk about the reading I had done the night before. I loved the talks each morning and Mark told me to pray and ask if the book of Mormon was true. My coworker found the LDS church for me to attend in my town and each Sunday they would take turns (there were four of them) attending church with me for a little over a month. This was remarkable as they were attending their church in the morning and then drove to my city (10-15 miles away) and then attend the afternoon services with me. I love them all for this effort which shows the extent of their love for the savior,me and the church. I was baptized November 12, 2011 and ordained November 13, 2011.

How I live my faith

I read the book of Mormon everyday for real. My friends bought me a quad (one book which includes the Bible, book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price) as a gift after my baptism. I study with my home teachers monthly and the missionaries once a week. We study various subjects and read the scriptures together. My wife is not a member, but believes and participates in family home evening activities with the other members of the church. She also attends church on Sunday and really enjoys the fellowship and listening to other members testimony. I try to be an example the same as the four other members who were an example for me to follow, same as the footsteps of Christ.
